Proposal: Cozens + Byram for Elias Pettersson.

Was thinking of our expansion cousins and thought both teams could use a shakeup with Rumors swirling around, apparently some unhappy people in certain organizations.

Obviously Petey is the best player in the deal and most expensive, he would bring a new look with his buddy Dahlin and a different identity to that team who always seems to be floundering.

Canucks are in need of rounding out the lineup and are looking for a top 4 young Dman, they’ve been reported interested in Byram when in Colorado. Cozens replaces Petey as the second line Center and also provides a much needed RHS Center on the team.

If the Canucks are targeting a centre and a defenceman from anyone iOttawa should also be considered.

Something with a few moving pieces from both teams that sees like Pettersson (+?) for one of Chabot/Sanderson and Pinto (++)

Gutting our defence isn’t worth it.

Has one guy ever coasted off of a 20 game stretch as much as Byram has? He's proven in Buffalo he's probably not even a 3 on a good team

Byram was good for us, he plays in the first pair and there are not many complaints about him. Moreover, he plays in RD all season and does well.

In a world of Sabre suck i don't have much bad to say about him... he has been pretty darn good actually.... How he was acquired is a different story.

If Buffalo actually trades for Pettersson I feel so awful for the fans because that isn't going to work. He is not a guy who has balls and pride and pulls a team up. He's a guy who can produce when conditions are ideal for him. Sabres have too much of that already.

Buffalo needs a culture change, not just cycling out soft players who can't handle losing games in November every year and quit. Every player they bring in with any grit loses it there and finds it as soon as they leave. They need to bring in a core of grit type players and try to get as many guys to buy in with them and move off those who don't.

Yup, but he'd get to collect paychecks with his BFF Dahlin so he'd be happy.

I find it funny, Canucks fans who wanna trade Miller instead of EP. You hope that one day EP becomes as valuable as Miller, if not that contract is a massive L. Meanwhile JT Miller is JT Miller right now, exactly what you want if your objective is a Stanley Cup. If you want to build a country club of overpaid losers like the Rags or Leafs, EP is the guy.

It's crazy how much of what you wrote perfectly describes Matthews/Marner/Nylander too

I don't see this working out for either club. I think the Nucks are better off pursuing a deal with the Rangers that sees Miller going the other way in a hockey trade. Trading EP for two lesser pieces is bound to blow up in their faces while I don't think Pettersson has the temperament to drive play in Buffalo.

Byram has been quite good this year, thanks for stopping by the thread though.
