I was wondering why they would fill up a roster spot with a waiver claim if they were hoping for a roster player from a Hanzal trade.

Lost Richardson for the season and some of the kids have struggled at times; especially Dvorak (who they have had to bring up a few times ahead of schedule out of the A) and Dauphin who also just was recalled. AZ needs some depth;especially if they want to deal a prime asset like Hanzal.

He was great in his rookie year, then became complacent and was passed by others in the organization, hopefully this serves as a wake up call for him.

Thanks - This makes a lot of sense.

They also sent Strome back to junior.

Acquiring Peter Holland and now Josh Jooris is all about insulating their youngsters.

Well that's one way to fill the epic hole down the middle that the Coyotes have. I don't get that franchise, you have some solid youth but you surround them with garbage.

They had 9 first or second year players on the squad at one point. The entire team is youth.

And you'd think they would learn from teams like the Hawks, Pens and Kings and surround the team with some solid veterans. Even the Oilers finally figured it out, albeit 12yrs later. Toronto is too stubborn to get it but the Yotes have this so called smart guy analytics dude as their GM and well, yeah, seems like he's just finding ways to cut cost if anything.

I would hate to see kids like Domi, Dvorak, Strome, etc just get squandered there by being surrounded with cast offs as support. Surround those guys with some decent talent. Even aging stars that want ice time that go there for a year is better than AHL caliber guys that not even Las Vegas would select.

Yes. All the top free agents have been clamouring to sign with a team long been rumoured to be on the move to Quebec City. They have to beat them off with a stick.

AZ is a cap team this year btw. The moves to land Crouse and Chychrun eating up much of their cap space.

Goligoski actually had to waive his NTC to be traded and eventually signed by AZ before becoming a UFA. They also signed McGinn and Vrbata this off season to supplement their youth.

Hey, I get it, we've been there (Haha Kansas City, suck it). I hope it sorts itself out as I know Bettman won't let the team leave.

They didn't give him mostly because of him being eligible for arbitration if I remember right.

No, mostly because he is not very good and very replacable. Guys like him are a dime a dozen.

He was just plucked off waivers. Noone is expecting anything other than some hustle on the fourth line.

How do you guys manage to have enough energy to come post about how he's not that great? Really, the waiver pick up isn't going to turn around the Coyotes' season? Damn. We should all reevaluate or postseason plans, I guess.

Apparently he flies so much under the radar that the Flames didn't want to sign him and the Rangers waived him after 10 games or so. Maybe the Coyotes will see how good he truly is ? :sarcasm:
Flames had otehr players that were similar and more physical. The Rangers signed him to fill holes while guys were oiut injured. Jooris is a decent player.

Yes because a waiver pickup is just a garbage move that will cost them in the long run right?

Regardless of that, Jooris is done. I hate to say it, but he was a fluke for us and his good season was only for 50ish games.

So you say it's not a bad move but then they pick up a guy that you consider done.

Interesting.

Very good pick up for the Coyotes. Jooris did fine in his time in NY despite the injury problem. Getting waived in NY is due more to the embarrassment of riches the Rangers find themselves in, rather than anything Jooris did or didn't do as a 4th liner.

Both Hrivik and Lindberg have had atrociously timed injuries just like Jooris, which disrupted their path to a starting job but seem to finally be getting there and they are both bigger and better than Jooris. Good luck to him inArizona.

Interesting.

Well you were reacting like it was the end of the franchise that they picked Jooris up instead of 'solid vets' (don't hit waivers).

Jooris won't be an nhl regular. I have nothing wrong with him being say, a 14th forward and playing in injury spaces but there's just not much there.
