Will he though? I don't think Crouse scares anybody in the NHL. I think he is lousy at fighting.
I wouldn't be surprised if Foligno has a chat with Crouse next game. You are correct, he doesn't register on the fear factor meter.

BA said he had a 5 year plan which signals a rebuild. I thought we would re-tool but he might tear it down. If that happens I think OEL will want out.
Yeah this notion that AZ is rebuilding shouldn’t be a f***ing surprise to anyone.

I am depressed to hear you think the Minnesotans will pretend to be so stupid they don't understand something had to be done with the attempts to murder Garland. And when I say murder, I mean that in the literal sense.

(Edited one letter away, as it seems someone here uses the opportunity to make an issue out it).

I think they understand completely how standing up for your teammate is important. I feel part of that is their guy having a chat with Crouse telling him that won't be happening on their watch. Do you think players just watch their teammates getting beat up because "they started it"? Are you new to hockey?

We don't have to blow up the roster to be on a 5 year plan. Lots of salary cap opening up.

That said, no one should be considered untouchable.

He pounded that last guy. He's not great but it's usually not the fighters throwing the cheap shots. If they know he's going to come after them, I guarantee it will slow down. If that doesn't work, go after the other team's stars.

Garland is too small to be a team’s best scoring threat in this day and age. We need a big forward who can take the pounding to be our best scoring threat.

I don't he landed a decent punch in that dustup. Fighting has not discouraged dirty or borderline hits in decades. If it ever did??

How many years do we realistically think Garland can play at this level of play if he continues to receive this level of punishment? The one game misses will become two games soon. And the two game misses will become a week misses after that. I love Garland for his grit and determination. He is a heart and soul player. The number of prospects out there i would consider moving him for are few. But they do exist.

In the 70’s and 80’s fighting helped cut down on stick work. Back then if Garland was run like that, Kaprizov will would be run in retaliation....in addition to a fight.

And how do you sign him? How comfortable are you going long term for bigger money? Do you bridge him to make sure he's for real and will hold up physically? Lots of tough choices coming with Garland.

Yet I recall watching Gretzky getting cross checked in the head and Mario getting hacked and whacked continously. The things you suggested happened if a player was continously running around throwing shady hits, it was rare for one offs. I mean the going after another star.

You'd have to blow my doors off to get me to give up Garland. There's a lot of risk there, but he's the kind of player we can not only build our team around but also build our entire culture. Heart and f***ing soul.

Yep. When I watch Schmaltz, it looks like he plays hockey because he's good at it, not because he loves it. Probably not the case, but you know Garland loves it. He had to prove everyone wrong every step of the way.

Sorry this post got long quick, didn't intend for it to be this much but here we are...

So I would think these are the names on the for sure trade list:

Caggiula
Kuemper
Raanta
Goligoski
Demers
Brassard

Then there is our second tier of guys which are probably available but not being shopped:

Schmaltz
Pitlick
Larsson
Crouse
Hayden
Fisher
Oesterle
Lyubushkin

Last we have our group of hard to gets for various reasons (player or team decision):

OEL
Kessel
Hjalmersson
Keller
Garland
Dvorak
Chychrun

I didn't include in guys that really aren't roster players like Hunt and Capobianco. When I broke things down this way, our list of talent seems underwhelming. Chychrun, Dvorak and Garland are probably my favorite Coyotes this year and I have been one of Chychruns biggest supporters going back before the draft but I am beginning to believe we would be well off to trade some of these young players. Both Boston and Buffalo seem like prime candidates to make a trade that could set us up for the future and my thought around Buffalo will make some of you puke..

Schmaltz + Kuemper for Skinner + Ristolainen + Thompson + Pekar + Laaksonen + 2nd + 3rd

Chychrun + Capobianco + Brassard + Fisher for Debrusk + Kase + Lauzon + Zbroil + Lauko + 2nd + 4th

Keller + Oesterle for Yandle + Vatrano + Connolly + 1st + Noel

Garland for Panik + Lapierre + McMichael

Goligoski and Demers at 50% to whomever for whatever we can get.

This is a blow it up move that I think could see us restart the rebuild without adding 5+ years to it, plus I really like the D coming back. Our blue line hasn't been what we're accustomed to for 5ish years and I think Ristolainen, Lauzon and Zbroil help get us back there.

Skinner - Dvorak - Pitlick
Debrusk - Thompson - Kessel
Vatrano - Hayton - Connolly
Crouse - Larsson - Kase
Panik, Hayden, Caggiula

OEL - Ristolainen
Yandle - Lauzon
Zbroil - Lyubuskin
Hjalmersson, Gross

Hill
Raanta
Prosvetov

Picks Added: 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
Prospects Added: Pekar, Laaksonen, Lapierre, McMichael, Noel

I feel a lot better about our blue line and our prospect pool will feel significantly more prepared to move into the future. Adding Skinner will blow but if we can somehow turn him into a 45pt 20-25 guy and then resell at 50% for additional assets, I'd be pretty happy about that. This is a full rebuild kind of scenario.

Also I expect a ton of flame so pile it on boys!

Schmaltz is the most disappointing player for me. Handed a fat contact and is a Houdini on the ice.

I love how the trade board clowns warped this from “coyotes getting calls on Garland” to “coyotes shopping Garland, what a dumb franchise lolll”

I think Schmaltz is a tad below expectations right now, production wise. He's been cold lately. He'll bounce back and it'll balance out. This board was making similar comments about Keller a few weeks back and look at him right now.

I think on those four contracts (Chychrun, Dvorak, Keller, Schmaltz) were getting good value. Chychrun is underpaid, Dvo is very fair, Keller is coming along, and Schmaltz is right there too. If any are overpaid, it makes up the difference for the first two being underpaid.
