Coverage of WJC in the US

has been abysmal. The only games I've really been able to watch live have been US games; there's been virtually no coverage of other games live, and coverage seems to only be on NHL Network. As a flyers fan, I was really looking forward to the tourney as we have 7 guys in action, but even when they're supposed to play, for example, the Canada v Sweden game today (Konecny, Sanheim v. Lindblom, Sandstrom) they push it back two hours on TV. In fact, they just decided to play the Czech v Finland game instead (which I admit seems to have been a better game, but still, highlights the problems with communication and dissemination). Do any other US viewers have an opinion? Any other places to watch games? Thanks in advance.

It has been absolutely horrible. I think NBCSN should be covering some of these games. But it isn't surprising. The U.S. sucks at covering hockey in general.
 
Tape delay isn't great, but the fact that you can watch the WJC at all in the US is actually a big improvement over how it was, not even that long ago.
 
I wish it was covered more, but being a USA fan I'm glad and thankful I get to at least watch them. They show some other game live which is gravy. It's called the NHL Network, not the hockey network. So while I wish we had the coverage TSN has, I won't complain too much.
 
Agreed with OP - if I remember correctly, more games have been televised on NHLN in the past years. Not sure what's up with this year.

I'm sure more people would want to watch a live WJC game than a week old reply of a condensed NHL game.
 
its generally been fine on the NHLN but not all providers have that channel. its just not popular enough here to justify nbcsn picking it up, especially with all the EPL games during the holiday season.
 
Honestly its not worth it for NBC

WJC are a glorified minor league event (Love hockey but even in US a WJ version of basketball or football would not draw)

Also given its Bowl Season you wont draw any viewers even going against the lowest quality bowl games

its practice....ur really just watching drills from a blimp when a big game is being played at that time. if u absolutely must show practice u can just show that on tape delay instead of an actual game.
 
I realize that the WJC will get zero mainstream coverage. But with the lack of content for the NHL Network during the day, there is no excuse for them not to have all of the games live.
 
Coverage is minuscule, to be sure, but even at its current level it eclipses the very meager demand. Very few in the US care about the WJCs.

I do believe that the NHL Network used to carry more WJC game feeds from TSN, mind you. It's noticeably reduced this year.
 
We're not doing this here. See the warning thread about streaming requests/posts at the top of the forum.

Legal viewing options should be easily searchable on the web. Anything else isn't going to be talked about here, including dissatisfaction with the coverage.
