Countdown to WJC 2021 - Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, Johnson?

Well I'm gutted by the result but what a perfect game by the USA. Canada didn't generate anything - even in the 3rd I thought the USA had the better scoring chances.

VERY pleased with Ryan Johnson - I barely knew anything about this prospect going into this tournament. Started up and down but he was great from NYE on. Great skater, good defender, and there is some promise offensively.

Much, much too early on Quinn for many reasons and probably Mitts too. Don't forget about JJP who should haunt Ottawa for a while.
Well, I'm judging at the moment, of course I don't know what will happen in five years, but so far it looks like a bad take. Peterka is a very good choice, but what I'm saying is that we almost never have perfect picks in the first and second rounds, except that Cozens and Johnson fit this description in recent years, you can even praise Botterill for that. Although Zegras looks very good and he was my number one, but I cannot complain about Cozens, he also looks very good.

Accepting silver has to be so demoralizing. I rather just not get anything at all.

If your not first, your last. Silver and bronze are participation ribbons.

What honestly did you see in Rossi that was so special? He didn't stand out to me in anyway where I was like man too bad we didn't draft him.
He was not noticeable in this tournament, but he was the best player in the OHL, on the other hand, Lundell looks like a steal and he shows this not only in the WJC, but also in the Finnish League.

I like Lundell, Rossi I was never sold on, more ok if he was our pick because this board talked him up so much.

Canada got punched in the mouth early.. They showed there skill throughout but mainly as individuals..

Bottermilk and Adams did a pretty good job drafting the right type of player , it seems..

Great team game by the US. Fun intense ugly hockey to watch.

This has been an exceptional U20 for a lot of reasons. Just getting this tournament out in front of hockey fans in general. The Germans making the QF for the first time in 15 years despite being so shorthanded and unable to practice. The Swedes losing not once, but twice in the round robin after their 53-game run. The US-Finland game in the semis was outstanding.

From a Sabre-centric point of view:

- Peterka was studly.
- Cozens was studly and showed a bundle of high-character/leadership qualities.
- Quinn surprised by making the CND team. There was some good there.
- Johnson may have shaken off any draft stygma for not being a forward after ramping up his game over the course of the tournament.
