Just browsing the 2021 playoffs and saw how dominant the Lightning were in that playoff year...

Come to think of it, I think the 2021 Lightning could give the 2024 Florida Panthers a run for the money...

The Tampa bay Lightning teams were really good in 20 and 21. Even the 22 team was good. The only team that gave them a run were the Islanders (who were really good as well). I'd bet on the Tampa Bay lightning to win that series, but both teams were really solid cup winners

Could Gordie Howe elbow Scott Stevens and end his career? If these two teams were put in the same year, what are the chances they even face each other?

I voted no, because i think 24 Panthers are more complete team, a lot of NHL players have said how they just grind and grind until you got nothing. Is the 21 Bolts a more skilled team? Sure.

I know I've often bashed the Panthers and am not their biggest fan, but in all honestly I definitely prefer Tampa by a lot here.

In my opinion - this Tampa core is the strongest team of the cap era. I'd have them over anyone else too. And Panthers aren't #2.

2024 Panthers don’t have a player the caliber of Kucherov, who is one of the best 3 players in the entire world, nor do they have a prime Hedman on the backend, or the best playoff goalie of his generation in net. This is Tampa Bay easily.

First reaction Tampa. But then I looked back at the 2021 playoffs, they beat Florida in 6 games in rd 1. Instead of Huberdeau, weegar they would have tkachuk, ekblad (ekblad didn’t play in the 2021 playoffs), montour, OEL, Lundell and Tarasenko. That’s a big upgrade over 2021 Florida. I’ll go Florida but it’s a pickem

Then the next season Tampa Bay swept them in dominating fanshion, giving up only 3 goals the entire series. That team had Ekblad playing, plus Lindell and Montour, didn’t matter. Yes, they added Tkachuk and some other pieces after that, but not enough to make a 4-0 series difference. Those Lightning teams were deep and had star power up and down the lineup.

A good argument. I’d counter by saying the 2024 having gone through pryer dissapoints in 2021 and 2022 and earning experience would make players better and more hungry. I’d also add Paul Maurice wasn’t part of those Florida teams and hired summer of 2022.

Tampa squeezed by a NYIslanders team 4-3 and won 1-0 in game 7. Yes Tampa was a very good team, but very beatable. If the 2021 isles can take Tampa that far, 2024 Florida has a 50/50shot

Colorado beat pretty much the same team in 2022. The only difference is Tampa didn’t have Coleman and goodrow and had perry and Colton instead.
The Lightning were dramatically injured at the time. I don't have the list anymore but it was one the worst I have ever seen. I want to say it was 9 or 11 guys. And BAD injuries. Like multiple players with torn labrums, multiple ACL sprains, multiple broken ankles and feet, multiple broken wrists, some guys with both. And we are talking about the likes of Point, McDonagh, Palat and a horrible injury to Cirelli. The Avs had Nuke dealing with a broken wrist. Maroon basically came out and said "Man you're not gonna believe this shit" after the Cup loss

I am not taking away anything from that Avalanche team but we win in 5 or 6 if Point is even remotely functional. Hell we had to play the bulk of the playoffs without him.
