EVERY sports medicine physician and surgeon has the patient use rest, ice, compression and elevation as a treatment for the injury because the nature of it is an over exertion. You don't do surgery on your arm because you lifted too much at the gym and you're sore. This is how and why the Lightning players were still able to compete. They're otherwise injected with anti inflammatories like ketolorac (toradol) or prednisone
