Well I mean if we actually got him.

If we sent an offer sheet but didn't get him, yeah it would be pretty crappy/pointless.

That is exactly what would happen if we offer sheet him though. We do not have a first round pick and we also would not be able to afford him. So i don't really know where this rumor is coming from. Its sounds extremely fabricated.

Mhm, that's why I said it probably won't happen.

There is no way this rumour is anything but people just sitting around and making stuff up. For starters, the Sens don't have a first to use which means their offer will be low to the point the Rangers automatically match. There are loads of other reason which really don't matter after this first point.

All impossibilities aside, Bryan Murray the GM of a small market Canadian team, offer sheeting a player on the New York Rangers takes stones.

If this did actually happen, I would laugh till I cried.

The Sens are in the same position as the Devils: no 2014 first round pick.

The only offer sheets they could send would be less than 3.4 or more than 6.2.

I would actually be scared if it happened too be honest. We don't know how the rangers gm would feel about the sens offer sheeting his players. We are a internal cap team, the rangers aren't. What would stop the rangers gm from offer sheeting all our players that turn rfa next offseason? The rangers could essentially screw us over. So i say no to this offer sheet.

I changed the title of the thread, because it's not really a rumor and it's also--for all intents and purposes--impossible.

OP, you've started about a dozen threads here and every single one is about Stepan. Are you sure you heard something on the radio, or are you just bored and looking to talk about your boy?

Im gonna go ahead and assume this is garbage. Sens would love but dont need Stepan.

If there is an offer sheet, the Rangers will match unless it is some ridiculous offer from the Sens.

Somehow I don't see Stepan signing an offer sheet for less than $3.4 mil to move up to Ottawa and going over that amount the Sens are going to need the 1st they've already traded. If we're figuring Derek is going to get $4.5--5 mil per season anyway and that turns out to be correct--there's no real sense to any of this. A top player is not going to sign an offer sheet usually unless the offer really blows him away. Just don't see it here.

Sens are on a tight budget, doubt they are going to expend what it would cost.

They could offer over $6,728,782, too.

Clubs owing two (2) draft selections in the same round, must have them available in the next three (3) drafts.
