Could Jeff Skinner end up being the feel good story of the playoffs?

all our top 7 are playing like a top 4 lol and our 8th played in 76 games this season , defence is the least problem for the Oilers right now
Because Vegas and Dallas didn't pressure the D enough.

Different story now. Not suggesting their D can't hold Florida. But it's the biggest challenge.

Looked into other players over 1k career games and PPG in the playoffs:

  • Wayne Gretzky
  • Mark Messier
  • Jari Kurri
  • Sidney Crosby
  • Gilbert Perreault
  • Jean Béliveau
  • Bobby Hull
  • Joe Sakic
  • Guy Lafleur
  • Phil Esposito
  • Denis Savard
  • Doug Gilmour
  • Gordie Howe
  • Paul Coffey
  • Evgeni Malkin
  • Brian Leetch
  • Dale Hawerchuk
  • Jeff Skinner

Should be on the first line.

edit: Fixed list, missed a couple

If this remains the same, this would make an all-timer sporcle quiz

From what I remember of last years finals…. Many Florida goals were caused by oilers dmem not able to move the puck quickly…. If you watched every game this playoffs that is actually their strength now adding Walman and Kling…. Very impressed with the difference from last year

I am an oiler fan so I am bias... but 99% of the oiler fan base wanted this guy at the deadline at all cost to add something we needed,
He plays 1 playoff game and joins the black aces,, it took not one but two injuries to get this guy back in the line up

I assume most of you after over 1000 regular season games, this is the first time he has played in the playoffs. Just remove the fact he plays for the oilers and he could be the feel good story of the playoffs

Look man, am I saying he’s a hockey god? Yes, because no other player has points in every single playoff game he’s ever been in. That’s clutch, that’s rarified air right there.

My dude foresees the future- he knew they needed a 3rd goal, the way the scoring played out. He absolutely had to finish there and he did, because he Dr. Strange’d it, looked at timelines, and said “dagger.”

Shooters shoot. You know who the most important man of the Revolution was? The one who fired the first shot. You know who that man was? Jeff Skinner.

I’m not making much sense here, but neither does Skinner. And that’s exactly.

Florida also hasn’t faced a D that can move the puck like Edmonton’s. That will be their biggest challenge not getting burned in transition.

If Edmonton wins McDavid getting a ring will be the story..with heavy speculation about if he stays in Edmonton (which Brooksie of the NY Post is already doing)

Yep.

I have a feeling their D will get worked by the Cats depth. That and goaltending is why I picked Florida in 5.

Broberg would be huge for them
I'm not worried about our D getting worked by the Panthers because Walman has been a absolute revelation since coming over from the Sharks & Klingberg is surprisingly playing like the perennial Norris Trophy candidate he was just a few years ago when he was in Dallas.

I am worried that Stuart Skinner's allergy to rubber returns though.

This is not possible, Stevie Y assured me he was a negative asset

Ring or no ring, he's not leaving having recently made back to back finals. Where is he going to go that can afford to give him 14M for 7 years and not have gaping holes? Carolina?

yes, but 1-2 key injuries and it wouldnt be. i think added D depth would have tipped the scales more in their favor than an undersized forward
Kinda like how we were missing our top pairing, best defensive Dman all playoffs until last game? And we still looked elite to the point where some wanted to run 11/7 just because the D looked so good before Eky was back.

D is a strength.

If he costs them this series, it's 100% on management. And if I'm McDavid, I say "Get a legit stud goalie before I sign."

It's like getting good starts on the OL and at RB. But getting a mediocre starting QB. And said team loses.

You can't disregard the most important position in sports.

Lol.

Walman and Klingberg are better than Broberg and this is from a guy who watched Broberg in the AHL as a rookie and said he was an elite puckmover when folks wanted him gone. Walman is just an amazing add.
