I am an oiler fan so I am bias... but 99% of the oiler fan base wanted this guy at the deadline at all cost to add something we needed,
He plays 1 playoff game and joins the black aces,, it took not one but two injuries to get this guy back in the line up

I assume most of you after over 1000 regular season games, this is the first time he has played in the playoffs. Just remove the fact he plays for the oilers and he could be the feel good story of the playoffs

How a guy who is career PPG in the playoffs gets continually underrated is beyond me.

his skating sucks? thought it was good early in his career he took figure skating when he was younger ? i believe. but yes hes undersized and bad defensively.

Looked into other players over 1k career games and PPG in the playoffs:

  • Wayne Gretzky
  • Mark Messier
  • Jari Kurri
  • Sidney Crosby
  • Gilbert Perreault
  • Jean Béliveau
  • Bobby Hull
  • Joe Sakic
  • Guy Lafleur
  • Phil Esposito
  • Denis Savard
  • Doug Gilmour
  • Gordie Howe
  • Paul Coffey
  • Evgeni Malkin
  • Brian Leetch
  • Dale Hawerchuk
  • Jeff Skinner

Should be on the first line.

edit: Fixed list, missed a couple

This is the post of the week.

Depends on what part of his skating you’re looking at. He has never been a particularly fast player, not a big threat in transition. However he is great on his edges which makes him nimble and elusive in traffic, and scores a lot of goals like the one he scored in game 5 — buzzing around the net, getting lost in traffic, and popping up in open space at the opportune time.

For whatever reason knoblauch doesn't like Skinners game, it's no secret he's not a hitter or a defensive guy, purely a strong skater/puck handler/scorer.

How he SHOULD be used on the oilers is to make all the lines stronger by playing with with Mcdavid or Draisatil so the oilers don't have to pack them both on the same line in an emergency, this bumps, RNH, Kane, Hyman, down the order one spot, making your 3rd and 4th line more dangerous IMO.

Skinner spreads the scoring instead of doing exactly what Kris did before the oil got rolling which was concentrate Mcdavid/Drai and whoever, Hyman/RNH/Kane on the top line.

Skinner improves all the line matching and depth as a scoring threat for the oil, but knoblauch doesn't use it like that.

He will be more useful than brown against Florida rotate them in and out keep legs fresh
How so? Brown brings speed, strong defensive play, and PKing to the line up. He's also had a very good playoffs so far chipping in some very nice secondary scoring.

If anyone ends up coming out for Skinner at some point during the series it would likely be Kapanen or an injury.

It was nice to see him scoring a goal. He looked good out there. I agree with someone who said he could be a good fit on one of the top 2 lines. Spread the scoring out. He'd fit in there. Whether this happens, we'll see.

You'd think Skinner would stay because he had a good game and scored a big goal. It's hard to say who comes out for him. Against Florida we'd likely want to keep Frederic in. That's the chance for Skinner to stay though. Maybe Knoblauch likes having a skilled guy in the bottom six to complement Janmark/Podkolzin
