WC: Could Canada host the World Championship?

If they ever build that second rink in Markham then Toronto would be an excellent location. Split the games between there and Hamilton.

I would prefer not. It's a series of empty exhibition games. Once a year is overkill. Every four years has meaning.

Why would an "exhibition series" suddenly have meaning if played every four years?

Canada gave up their right to bid until 2022 because of their deal to host the Juniors every other year.

But if they did, I see no reason why it wouldn't be successful. Canada is hockey mad and not every city has an NHL team. (And not all the NHL teams are still playing anyway) That's why 2008 was successful.

Vancouver could host using old Pacific Coliseum and maybe the UBC arena.

Vancouver/Victoria would be cool.

Wonder what the contingency plan is if the Giants (or the likes of Victoria/Saskatoon/Regina) were to be in the WHL final? Usually the CHL league finals start the same week as the World Championships.

What about splitting it between Copps and the Hershey Centre?

like the title says could Canada host the IIHF World Championships (not counting the 2008 edition) and if so where ? I'm aware of the NHL playoffs but the IIHF could schedule games before playoff games so they don't overlap with NHL playoff games.

Personally With a bit of work and a format change spreading out the groups into groups of 4 in four playing in different arenas its doable. they could be well received.

It already happened few years ago in Quebec City....
And could go back there when the new arena is finished in a couple of years.
