Hello just wondering what the cost would be on Oleksiak and what the Kraken are wanting in terms of players and picks.
Kraken are looking for prospects that we can plug in to the roster in a year or two. But I do not think Oleksiak will cost much or be able to garner back anything more than a B- prospect.

If he does get traded, I am guessing it will be for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Atleast most Kraken fans don't value him very high. Can't say what the GM's think about a big D-man though. The TDL and FA are two times in the year the GM's go a little cuckoo.

Do you think the Kraken would be open to retaining on Oleksiak? This would bring in a higher return. Or do you think they would rather trade him at a lower cost but moving on from his full contract?

If the cost is only a 2nd or 3rd round pick, I would hope the Oilers are in on him to pair with Nurse.

I certainly think so. At the end of the day it will come down to how many players Francis moves. He will likely retain on Gourde and Tanev. Maybe Oleksiak too. Isn't there a limit on how many players can be retained on?

Yes, teams have 3 retention slots. Gourde and Tanev are UFAs, so retaining on them wouldn't be very costly as it won't impact Seattle's cap situation next year. However, Oleksiak would as he still has 1 year more year after this one. I could see a team paying something like a 5th round pick to have 600k retained and bring his cap hit down from 4.6M to an even 4M.

Could see him attached to a deal someone makes for McCann. He has a pretty rock solid NTC though but I’m sure he can be convinced. It would be one of those deals where a team is hesitant to give up a certain prospect, but says if they include Oleksiak, they’ll include that prospect for McCann.

On his own? A 2nd rounder with a decent prospect at best. He’s a good filler in a top 4 with an above average dman. Add him next to a star, he becomes more impactful, because he can play more of his game.

Think he can go somewhere and have an impact, if the team acquiring him needs to upgrade their Top 4 partners for their top Dmen. If a team is getting him to play more of an even role with a partner, not sure he’s making much of a difference.

3 but since Gorude and Tanev are UFA he would get 2 of those spots back at the end of the season.

I actually think he might be a Leaf target.

We know they want a depth D since Hakanpaa likely never plays again.

And we know Treliving wants a 6"7 230+ pound D man because he signed Hakanpaa
