Rumor: Cossa to Edmonton Is Trending

Completely unsubstantiated rumor, but it is trending on Twitter right now. So worth discussing.

No reliable source is reporting this. But Bob Staufer (pretty reputable) also made reference to this a couple weeks ago…

For whatever reason it’s always felt like a strained trust with Cossa, despite his statistical performances.

Hopefully we atleast get Howard attached to the 2nd round pick. I could live with that… Always liked Howard

This simply cannot be true. If Yzerman traded up in the first round to take a goaltender, only to trade away that kid - without ever giving him any real NHL playing time - just to collect more picks...that would be Walman 2.0 level asset mismanagement. Like, I'd want him fired before the ink was dry on the transaction.

In isolation I’m skeptical that I’ll like this. In aggregate, we gotta make things happen. Make the roster better or make the roster worse. Makes sense that one of the goalie prospects would be moved at this stage.

Honestly seems like incompetent management. He went on impressive stretches the past 2 seasons that should’ve at least resulted in some NHL duty. But nope, and now it looks like we’re casting him aside without really knowing what we’ve got.

Yeah possibly. I Doubt they trade during the finals anyways.

But could be a handshake deal to be completed later and too many loose lips have let it get out. There was Edmonton smoke before this too.

I think I have run out fingers on my hands the amount of times Edmonton and Cossa have been linked the last few years.

I want more than a second and something for this. I do wonder with both our seconds if we could move up enough to get Hakansson, I want that guy. 47 & 52 could probably get us up a decent bit and he is sliding down some of the boards.

I just wish they gave Cossa a chance this year when Talbot fell apart from November on.

Should have seen Cossa last year, management of talent continues to be an issue with this staff. Trading him with no playing time after trading up is next level stupid, still won't beat the Walman debacle but something new to shake your head at, I guess.
