I see their point but places like Zehrs and Superstore have been selling toys long before Covid. I know it's not fair for many small businesses but it's never been about small versus big business. There is many small businesses that do sell groceries and they can be open.

im all in on small business getting crushed because of covid

the riots will be fun when homeless and poverty rise
Just angering hundreds of thousands of people... breaking point will be soon

I would not want to live in Toronto when the riots start... spring will be a nightmare

Canadians Riot?

Millennials and Zedders riot?

Right.

Maybe you could clarify WHO will be the rioters?

owners of extremely average bbq joints? “The pulled pork riots” they shall be called

maybe you will care when the government pulls your unemployment and CERB. Or when people you care die and you can’t go to their bedside/funeral :)

Curious why you're automatically against every single complaint about the current restrictions. It seems very contrarian. Can you not just admit it's complete garbage that a large retailer can sell things most small retailers are currently prevented from selling? It comes across like you just want to support every government measure right now no matter what it is.

I realized something during all of this.

People on the outside, we do not understand or appreciate bureaucratic culture.

That is a culture of CYA, cover your ass.

That is all we see from the government. Someone comes first, then they won't say who does.

I of support every measure as I just want this to end for one. Two no it's not fair that some retailers can sell things the little guy can't. You know what life's not fair.

Agreed, thats why the lockdowns themselves are like a virus. One government does it and then we get the monkey see..monkey do happening all over the world. Florida is about as open as you can be during this covid nightmare and they are just about the same as California when it comes to infection rates. California has been on lockdown since March.

So these lockdowns might work in other countries that are pro-active when it comes to visitors like Australia and New Zealand with the 14 day hotel stay...but we don't do ALL of the things they do and expect the same results somehow....its very odd. If I copy half of your test during an exam...should I expect to get the same grade as you?

I've said this before: you wanna say life's not fair to small business owners, I turn that around say life's not fair to the people dying. 12,000 people's lives taken away (the vast majority of whom were already on death's door) vs. millions of people's livelihoods gone or soon to be. A measured approach is what's necessary that takes both into account, not a too-bad-so-sad approach to one or the other.

Oh, and this won't be over for years. I've tried to get that point across many times.

I haven’t touched unemployment or cerb since coming to Canada. But that is just lucky on my part I work for a firm who didn’t want to lay anyone of their employees off due to COVID. No I think you misinterpret my post I have a problem with the one bbq who decided to dishonestly stay open and flout the rules while all these other small businesses follow the rules

And who owns Whole Foods? Amazon. They will continue to use their tentacles to crush small business. It is what it is.

Isn't is funny how the people in favour of the lockdowns either knowingly or unknowingly are supporting big business over small? I'll bet the farm most of them hate big business too and just don't understand what they're supporting.

The countries that did well (Australia, NZ, Taiwan, SK) all locked their border immediately to China. We never have.

honest? No not honest. Honest is every other small businesses operating under the current rules. There is nothing honest about that bbq guy

Many aren't operating any longer because of the restrictions, they went into bankruptcy and no longer exist. What's worse is that there isnt a great deal of consistency or logic with respect to which businesses are being asked to close and which are allowed to stay open as others have alluded too.

Outside of the GTA it has been a measured approach. In Niagara all small businesses are open. If anyone is to blame its people not following the same guidelines at home as they do in public
