In regards to the danger it presents yes. I’m not saying there isn’t a new flu strand, I’m saying it’s not any different than any new strand that has happened over the last couple decades. The difference with this and the bird flu is we now have social media and socially wait around to butcher people anytime we disagree with them. We are currently wrecking economies over a flu strand that isn’t killing anyone that wouldn’t be dying from any other flu.
There's a lot of false information in this post. I'll stick to the factual differences between Covid-19 and the seasonal flu.
First, seasonal flu has a mortality rate of ~.1%. Coronavirus/Covid19(CV) varies from 2 to 3 to 4 % but if we assume the lower end of 2%, its 20 times more deadly.
Second, Season flu infects ~1.3 people per patient, so it spreads slowly. CV infects (so far, that we know of) between 2 and 3 people per patient, so its 2 to 3 times more contagious than seasonal flu.
Third, we have vaccines for seasonal flu, which most people opt out of, but when a particularly bad strain hits, people go get flu shots at a much higher rate (which is why the first and second numbers are much lower). There is no vaccine for CV despite Trump saying its coming soon. And I work for Gilead, the company that may have a treatment for CV (Remdesivir) , but there is no vaccine on the way anytime soon.
Its always better in times like these that people stick to true facts.
