We have to keep in mind that the Habs have a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday on the road. They're in Detroit on Friday and in Washington on Saturday.

So this could be simply placing Matheson on IR to make room on the 23-man roster to call up Schueneman so they can go on the road with 7D in case someone gets hurt on the road games.

But when a player is put on IR, he must be there for at least 2 weeks, no?

I believe it's 7 days from the moment they got hurt. So they can place a player on IR retroactively. Granted, in Matheson's case, retroactive is about 2 days.

The way Marty was talking it didnt sound too devastating, but not insignificant either, so maybe sprain somewhere, ankle or knee, a good month or so

Our defense was already really green.

Now with our #1 (Matheson) and #2 (edmundson out), I think our defensive results will fluctuate a lot !

It is obviously encouraging of seing how Ghule, Harris and Xhekaj are performing right now.

Going by MSL's comment today after practice, they won't. He basically called it a blessing that Matheson was out since it means the kids are getting more minutes.

Oooooooor a once-in-a-generation opportunity for habs to give their best underagers an amazing learning experience until they become pooped or their confidence looks iffy?

The rookies does not seem to lack confidence, au contraire…. Having no legs on the back end of 3 games in four nights next Monday will be a good learning experience. Habs are not going to shake the testosterone out of Xhekaj, Guhle or Slafkovsky I don’t think; I like that they get to experience their limits and shortcomings.
