Injury Report: Corbin Burnes getting TJS

When the guy says "my elbow is dead" to the team trainer there's only one outcome usually.

He's most likely gone for all of 2026. Shane McClanahan is probably one of the more prominent arms to complete the TJS recovery recently and his timetable looked like;

Surgery in Aug 2023 -> first sessions throwing off a mound in September 2024 post surgery -> 100% for 2025 spring training. So roughly 17-18 months before he made it back. Since most guys usually follow the same, that would put Burnes being ready to go for 2027 spring training.

Worth noting McClanahan still hasn't pitched this year but that's apparently unrelated to the elbow.

Probably will only see him in 2027. Brutal for all involved.

The interesting part of this to me is that the opt out is after the 2026 season. My concern coming into this contract was that he'd have two good years, and then opt out for more money or leave altogether after 2026, the Scott Boras special. But now I assume he's as good as staying for the entire 6 years, which is exciting, even if he's missing 1.5 of it right off the jump.

I think TJ is getting to a point where a lot of guys come back better than before. Hopefully that's the case here, because I think Gallen is gone after this year.
