Couple small trades that would happen at the TDL.
Both help WPG cap wise for extending PLD in the offseason and help the other 2 teams for their Cup runs in the playoffs.

Andrew Copp to NYR
Would like a return of something around Lundkvist+pick
Gives WPG a young RHD, who is currently still on his ELC
Retention is possible if needed

Paul Stastny to COL
Would like a return of something around Martin Kaut+pick
Gives WPG a young RHW, who is currently still on his ELC
Retention is possible if needed

Ideas?

Why Kaut specifically other then him being a RHW?

I’ve heard some Avs fans say they’d like to have Stastny back and I figured it would be a good fit.
But any young RHW still on his ELC would do. I picked Kaut because he’s likely no more than a year or 2 from making the jump and that fits our timeline.
Same reason I picked Lundkvist.
Teams that could use our trades, that have young players that fit our needs and our timeline.

Did you have someone else in mind?

Can you give me a rundown on copp what could we expect from him as a player

Plays C/W, PP & PK and is a good two way player who doesn’t shy away from physical play. He has played top 6 & top 9 spots over his career on the Jets, last couple years top 6 (primary wing due to Mark & PLD at centre). Good leadership qualities, he will be missed.

We don’t need retention, but what type of pick are you looking for on top of Nils?

Kaut is a lot further from making the roster than Bowers. Kaut has yet to do anything I’ve seen to impress at all. I honestly feel both Bowers and Ranta have passed him in the prospect pool.
Then maybe Foudy
A part of it is the RH aspect. Jets are sorely lacking in right handers

I doubt Winnipeg would be interested in Kaut. I could see them being interested in Bowers before him.
Winnipeg need RHS forwards so of course they would be interested in Kaut. Kaut also has a higher ceiling (3rd line or middle 6) than Bowers (4th line) so again that would make Kaut the more interesting prospect.

That's not true at all. Kaut has already gotten multiple call ups and played 20 games in the NHL, whereas Bowers hasn't even made his NHL debut. So how exactly is Kaut "further from making the roster than Bowers"?

Kaut has been the Eagles' best player this season. His scoring numbers would be higher if not for the fact that veterans get all the PP time.

Ranta may be the more intriguing prospect for the organization due to his direct north-south style of play and higher ceiling, but Kaut is easier to project into an NHL role due to him playing a mature and heavy game and he's still the higher valued prospect around the league. For example, in the prospect rankings below from Wheeler Kaut is ranked 5th, whereas Bowers is 10th and Ranta 11th (though I'd argue that Kaut 5 and Beaucage 7 are too high and Ranta 11 and Helleson 8 are too low).

Wheeler’s 2022 NHL prospect pool rankings: No. 21 Colorado Avalanche

I could see them parting with Foudy, but I really hope they don’t. That kid looks solid.
I doubt Sakic has any interest in parting with Foudy any time soon given how much of an emphasis the Avs as an organization put on skating and transition game. Foudy skates super fast and smoothly, and is a one-man breakout. I don't envisage that the coaching staff and Sakic want to give up on him so soon.
