Panarin has become a given as a top 3 in every game.

Is Kakko teasing us or has he figured it out?

If it's the latter, they have as good a chance as anyone to win the Cup, even without a move.

Edstrom should never be scratched again unless his play takes a nosedive.

Kakko is attacking from the top of the slot and going up the ice also through the middle. Those simple things make a world of difference. He is also playing with compatible players, all hail Cuylle who is a natural at going to the netfront but also strong in general supporting the cycle.

Kakko's not looking to dominate the puck behind the net primarily, or going up the right side along the walls and getting hammered. He's not going in front of the goal to wrestle uselessly with some D because he has nothing better to do. All of this is coaching and thank god someone started using their brain FINALLY.

Kakko needs to keep doing what he is doing, dominate the puck in the slot area. Pucks behind the net are fine but can't be the primary focus.

One bad habit that he needs to improve is that he still skates backwards/backward crossovers way too much to find position when he's looking for the puck. That slows him down when he really needs all the movement he can find. But that is also another habit that is easily fixable. The root problems are not the player but the circumstances.

...
Panarin has been going to the net, he's been shooting the puck and he's been consistently backchecking. He has clearly made changes in the areas we all saw deficiencies in his game. Yet still seeing posts that sneer at his season long showing with the stupid - it doesn't matter because you need to score in playoffs. Puck-luck aside if he continues to play this way - Panarin will be effective in the playoffs.

Yea, and the flip side is Mika who has been pretty effective in the playoffs gets continuously shredded for this year's subpar regular season play by the same ppl. Many are on this site to purely revel in negativity, endorphin high or something from it.

Surprise surprise Zibanejad is starting to be harder on the puck back and forechecking. If we shift our perspective a bit re. him being a 2C this season what he and Kreider do at ES plus PP and PK is completely acceptable (and still with room to improve based on what they've done in the past).

Mika had a dogshit performance in the series vs NJ.

But yes his 2022 plsyoffs was elite, we all want to see that player come back.

BTW... are we just spoiled by our PGT?

I mean title for starters. Bravo THEY'RE AMAZING. This one is top-3 for me.

But also in involvement & insight?

I don't do the other boards. So honest question.

Agreed

BUUUUUT,

He does need to show it in the playoffs.

We've seen fire roasted bread in the reg season. Kind of a lot actually.

None of that matters if it evaporates in the spring.
