It is altogether possible that JBB wants to run it back because Sheary was injured last season. If you buy that narrative then the overwhelming track record of his career looks like a middle-six forward who typically produces 30-40 points.

It will be easier to get rid of him at the deadline as well. If you don’t like what you see in the current free agent crop, getting rid of Sheary won’t make or break your ability to get who you want.

I take it he hasn’t looked good so far in preseason. Good for him that Ace, Glendening and Brown are hurt I guess. But man what a bad pickup so far. Hope he proves us wrong eventually.

For the computer geeks: Sheary > /dev/null
I am a computer geek, but had to do some investigation:

"What is the > operator in linux?
In Linux, the > operator is used for output redirection."

"What is /dev/null?
It is a virtual device, which has a special property: Any data written to /dev/null vanishes or disappears. Because of this characteristic, it is also called bitbucket or blackhole."

Touché.

I did see him win a puck battle and set up a scoring opportunity in the game last night, but he wasn't yet at abomination level during last year's preseason either. Still, hope remains for the Sheary rebirth (mostly because we really need it).

Tampa, FL.
Sheary will get a chance to prove he's still capable of being the ~15 goal, 35-40 point type player he had been the previous 3 seasons before coming to Tampa. Hopefully, he can stay healthy this season and be a 3rd liner who contributes some offense, but if he struggles again, whether due to just not clicking in Tampa or because of injuries, there are at least a couple of prospects that look ready to make the jump. One can only hope that should he prove to be ineffective again, Cooper makes that switch sooner rather than later, but I guess we'll see.

Lets overrate rookies based on pre-season games for the 10th time. Remember that guy last year? He ain't even in North America anymore after getting cut in 19 games

Outside of Geekie, Sheary and Atkinson have significantly better upside than anyone on the farm.
