Fell asleep around 20 after 6 and woke up for the OT. Skinner made a nice stop on Broberg so kudos there. Seeing the highlights, they were lucky to get 1 point let alone 2, courtesy of Thomas.

NHL needs to ask themselves how they can call that penalty on Ekholm yet ignore the Schenn boarding penalty minutes later or the more obvious Draisaitl interference in OT. Both of these (one against each team) were infinitely worse than what they called on Ekholm. I mentioned it in the GDT but you can’t help thinking about Tim Peel after a game like this and there are an awful lot of games like this.

It’s probably both easier and wiser to try to call the game “equitably” rather than call each individual play fairly. Tim Peel ultimately reffed a fair game. There will be bad calls and missed calls regardless of what you do. But you can try to make it equitable, and if you’re good you can succeed at making it fair. You can’t call ‘em perfectly but you can call em equitably.

Jeff Skinner did his whole job tonight and got time with McDavid. Coaching usage just isn't an issue. I'm sure the coach wants Skinner to be awesome, and the first two periods were a template to get more minutes.

Every time McDavid gets some time off he looks like himself again, which is concerning. After the suspension his lateral movement was video game mode. He skipped the skills comp and was unstoppable tonight. His hands remain but his mobility seems to drain over time.

These guys have been kind of off their game for the last two weeks but still now first in the pacific alone.

We are so lucky to have McDrai - how many times have we see them just decide to win us a game over the past 7-8 years?

Draisaitl also got boarded just after they scored on the powerplay. He’s lucky he didn’t hit his face on the dasher
When the referees are looking to call a penalty on a specific team they call the first thing resembling an infraction they see. When they aren’t looking to call a penalty they’ll let everything go. Fans suspected this forever but TimPeel’s hot mic episode confirmed it. He’s been fired and gone for years but there’s no shortage of games to see the league still operates the same way.
