Murphy quietly becoming a really good player. Being defensive minded and on a currently middling (at best) team he’s gotten very little exposure outside of Hawks fans.

Comments in this thread about him being a third pairing guy are the classic HFB example where it’s going to take at least a year (or trade to a high profile team) for general perceptions to catch up (or down in some cases) to the actual play and value of a player, especially one not reliant on offensive counting stats.

Pens 1st round pick would be only thing that works for Hawks unless Leafs offered up a Mikheyev + Liljegren package but I doubt Leafs would move young RD like Liljegren nor Mikheyev especially when depth is already issue for Leafs

If they aren't getting good offers on Johnsson I could see them decide to gamble on his recovery and move Mikheyev instead. If he starts talks on Murphy I think the Leafs would be at the table

Murphy is also at the perfect age (at 27 he’s still getting better but also a fully formed into an experienced blueliner) and price (sub $4 million for two more years) to really become a key defensive cog in a competing team’s long term plans. He’s low key a guy any team with aspirations should be all over to really bolster their top 4 defensively *if* the Hawks were willing to listen, though they have no real incentive to trade him now that he’s finally starting to hit his stride and they have no ready made replacement.

All of those players had prime powerplay minutes though and averaged ~20 minutes a night. AJ averaged about 15 minutes a night with ~2 min on the 2nd PP unit meaning about 13 minutes of even strength time. To me that kinda means his EV ice time was sheltered.

Ok how about his defensive points share of 0.6?

how are defensive point shares calculated?

Needs: Connor Murphy...
No, but really we don't have any other true shutdown defenders here. I don't think moving him is a good idea.
Other needs are a young starting goalie, and 2 way wingers.

Darn, wish Vancouver had guys like that to spare, and too bad Sutter's a center lol.
Hopefully IRL your GM fumbles under the core guys' pressure, rebuilds and trades him to us for cheap haha.

Chicago must be fielding calls about Murphy. What’s his trade value? What do the Hawks need?

Jets could offer Heinola with either Iafallo or Schmidt for cap reasons

Sorry gents, I should have started a new thread. But the question remains the same, albeit 4 years later: what’s Connor Murphy’s trade value?

Depends on a few factors. He's injured currently, nothing serious sounds like, but he might not even be available this year because of that.

If he is healthy enough, it'd maybe be a 2nd for him with no retention, a 1st with retention.

Though Hawks don't have a ton of RHDs in the system, so I could see us keeping him instead of moving him for a late 2nd and replacing him with a young guy playing his offside.
