Pretty awesome to see. One of my bold predictions was that McDavid would score 150 pts this season, I am not really considering that to be so bold anymore (even though it would obviously be surprising). He's producing at a ridiculous rate and he doesn't even look nearly like himself so far this season with the exception of last game. I feel confident he will score 140 points this year with scoring up and our PP clicking.
Don't forget that Gretzky tailed off in the last 3-5 yrs of his career. The stats are flawed. If you take only Gretzky's same number of years as Mcdavid which is about 4-5 years, it should be about 2.10-2.25/game. If you take it a bit further, you get an even higher number. Sportsnet is only using Mcdavid's first few years. They should compare apples to apples. Would a 35 yr old Mcdavid keep up with 1.3 pts per game in the modern era? Nope.McDavid is just the best.
Edit: Also Gretzky's numbers are bonkers.

553 games.
1337/553 = 2.41/game for Gretzky.
The O'Reilly hold. No penalty.
first game this year he has looked “him”
hsvw give him lots of **** this year for his play but he is maybe coming on???
Figured this belonged here.
Every year the goalposts change. Mcdavid and Drai are dominating the league points wise, are looking likely to make the post season, but suddenly supporting cast is too important so mackinnon is mvp front runner.
What an absolute joke of an award.

Hence why the Lindsay is the better trophy. More clear about what the trophy is and is voted on by the players, not media guys that don't even watch a lot of Western games. This stuff bugs me. Same sort of early season momentum to get minds thinking about creating new criteria for awarding the MVP.
McDavid's team did not make the playoffs, so he can't be MVP.
McDavid and Drai have each other as teammates so they can't be MVP.
Funny that Crosby still got the MVP with Malkin in 2013/2014.
And that Kucherov got the MVP with Stamkos and Point in 2018/2019.

The hart is a clown shoes award voted on by such industry giants as mark spector. Not worth the toilet paper the ballots are printed on.Yeah I agree that the Hart isn’t nearly as good as being recognized by your peers, it’s just so frustrating how much the media hypes it up as being the best individual trophy you can win (Because they’re the ones voting of course..).
As if the media hyping up an award voted for by people who watch half the games isn’t bad enough, they then change the goalposts every time someone looks to be a favourite so they can stir up some stories, and unfortunately the people voting buy into this crap.
I really shouldn’t put stock into what these media guys say about Edmonton considering how little they see of us being all eastern media people, but it doesn’t make it any less frustrating to see these two not get the respect they deserve. How anyone can convince themselves that mcdavid or Drai aren’t the mvp right now is beyond me, especially for mackinnon.
Rantanen is back, that takes Mackinnon out of the running too I guess. This stuff bugs me. Same sort of early season momentum to get minds thinking about creating new criteria for awarding the MVP.
