I mean actually scoring. Goals. Not all the assists he gets because other guys were scoring. To be a high paid player that is supposed to be the superstar player on a team, the goals should be there. Without which your impact is more Doug Weight, except Weight was a much more valuable player.

Him Marchessault and Barbashev gave us a lot of trouble last time. This time our forwards are much deeper and better.

This team feels different from last year. I have to admit I 1000% did not buy that "yeah yeah snooze we're bored regular season" vibe but ever since Game 3 against LA it sure looks like the real thing.

Needed money saves on the PK too. Getting scored on that trash call would have been deflating, and Skinner moping after letting one in there would have probably sank the whole group. Way Skinner has played this year we probably end the first down 3-0 and deflated anyways.

When we do shop for a goalie this summer (we damn well better be), personality better be near the top of the list of importance.

I didn't think this was a wagon either. But a fair amount of concern was goaltending, much of which gets addressed just by starting Pickard. Now teams have to actually beat him. Not just look for automatics with plays across or odd man rushes.

That said its 5W's of 16needed. Vegas were laying the hits tonight and might impact if a long series. but this would be a crushing loss for the home squad in Game 1. They had it and the Oilers took it. That won't go down well.

Doesn’t get mentioned enough but podkolzin finishes every check. The kid is doing exactly what he should be doing for us.

Not mentioned but what a Cerebral play by Drai and a big goal it was. Changed the whole game. scoring tying goal early like that, and bouncing it in off Hill.

Did a few things. It reset the game, It made Vegas have to play and contend instead of just hang back looking for counters, and it got Hill off his game as he was starting to get feeling good about himself.

So that possible future dividends occur as the Oilers got to Hill in that third period. Hill was feeling great after 2nd period and awful after third.
