It's interesting because up until Bobrosvky's run with the Jackets in 2019 where he put up a .925/2.41 and even for a bit afterwards Bob had a lot of the same things being said about him. Florida committed to lowering his starts in the regular season getting from the mid 60's down to the mid 50's and he started having more playoffs success.

Hopefully the Jets brass wakes up, gets us a decent backup, and drops Helle's starts to mid 50's. Rests him more especially down the stretch and gets him working on his glove hand. If he still has playoff issues after that then we might just be SOL.

My team has never won a cup (Utah/Arizona) but I'd still take Hellebuyck because he'll get you to the playoffs.

We can kick the can down the road and figure out how to actually win anything later.
Which is why I wonder why people shit on him so hard.
Regular season is a grind and he is the very best with tons of games played.
Yes it’s obvious he is in a different position in the playoffs
Could simply be Father Time or something else.
He’s a good man

There is no point in keeping a player who turns yellow every time he's needed the most, no matter how many Vezinas or whatever he has in the case. Addition through subtraction.

We reportedly offered him up to the league prior to him resigning and nobody made an offer.

No, we did not. DO you honestly think a team like the Oilers, who has had s**tty goaltending for ages, would have passed on an opportunity to put the team over the top?

As for Laine well given what he looks like now I'd gladly take Vilardi, Iafallo, Kupari and a 2nd. So sometimes it can all still work out.

You just made my point for me. When we traded Laine, PLD was considered a 22 year old future #1 C. We ended up winning that trade. Then PLD did not want to sign in Winnipeg, so we got a Kings (pardon the pun) ransom for him.

If we traded Hellebuyck in the off-season, we could expect to get a great return.

His playoff problems have not been through his entire career. The Jets had made the playoffs three times from 2017-18 to 2020-21, and Hellebuyck played well. This has only been an issue for him since 2023.

With the proper backup, and reduced workload, as well as a sports psychologist, there is no reason to believe he may return to being his old self in the future.

Maybe it’s time to consider tandem goaltenders in the playoffs to ease the pressure . How many goalies have played every single playoff game for their team all the way to the Stanley Cup win?
2018 Holtby played in 23 of 24
2019 Binnington 26/26
2020 Vasilevskiy 25/25
2021 Vasilevskiy 23/23
2024 Bobrovsky 24/24

The two outliers were ‘22 and ‘23, and were both the result of injuries IIRC

Well according to all the people's opinions I trust over yours we did. Oh I'm sure the Oilers would have loved to offer us a 2nd and a cap dump for him. If that would have been worth it to you then I guess there isn't much more to talk about.

Vegas win the Stanley Cup the year prior with three goaltenders starting Im sure. So it’s not uncommon
Vegas only had 2 dtart in playoffs. Brossoit and hill. Granted neitherbwere their starting goalie.

Colorado didnt because kuemper had eye injury. Most do start every game of playoffs but it isnt extremely rare either for one not to.

As a division foe that has had the Blues number for a while, I haven’t had any sympathy for the Jets up until watching game 4. The Jets overall outplayed the Stars but got those mostly stoppable back breaking goals without many huge saves from Helle.

In the Blues series, StL was the better team in their 3 wins. It gives me flashbacks to all of those great Blues teams that went nowhere mostly due to weak playoff goaltending.

Hellebuyck seems likely to finish the playoffs with the worst save percentage of any goalie who played. That seems bad?

Dallas and St. Louis did their research and waited until the playoffs to play those cards. They were both excellent teams that have scoring skill. A lot of that scoring came on the penalty kill because the team couldn't block passes or clear the trash in front of the net. The rushes with muffin shots blocker side are a flaw, no doubt. Hellebuyck finished out this series very well and has all summer to learn from his mistakes and adapt.
