Yes he is when considering how great he is during the preseason. I can’t think of a three time Vézina winner who’s been this bad when the playoffs come along.

He's mentally fragile. Playoff choker who can't handle the heat. Not a huge difference in physical capability concerning upper tier NHL goalies. The large difference between his reg season and playoff performance over the years shows that he needs to work with someone who can get his mind in the right place come playoff time.

I actually think it is massively affecting the jets defensive coverage

They are collapsing so much more into this hive formation around the goal

No confidence in the goalie

They should probably try not to let Rantanen just waltz in across the slot for free if they don't want him to score goals. It just might help if the team in front of Helle isn't giving up odd man rushes, stupid penalties, or the d-zone with zero pressure at the blue line.

At this rate he doesn't even belong in the conversation for Team USA. They've got an embarrassment of riches in net.. Swayman, Daccord, Wolf, Demko, Knight, Stolarz, Gibson, and the obvious starter Otter

Seems like his mental cracked after he fumbled the puck in the net by himself in that Petrovic bounce. He was so good before that, but after he seemed lost.

Thought the exact same thing. Although that goal was a fluke, it is almost as if Hellebuyck knew that he hadn't played it well and the long review gave him way too much time to think about it. By the time play resumed, he had mentally cooked himself.

It would indeed help -- that Jet's defense is remarkable and not in a good way -- but even with that Hellebuyck's mental meltdowns have been for the ages.
