Hah, Jets win game 7 and Hellebuyck puts up a .897 performance, getting close to that magical .900 - where are all the naysayers now, it's Rantanen all over again!

Seriously though he should've had at least one of the goals, preferably both the 2nd and 3rd one but really happy for him he shut the door after that and got the job done, which is what really matters. While it's somewhat entertaining to marvel at how a guy can possibly drop so low come playoff time, feels like we've already been there and done that. I think most people would be ready for the big redemption arc. I know I am.

He's sitting at -10.1 goals saved above expected. Even with the game 7 win, the number went slightly down. They are winning in spite of him so unless he makes an incredible turnaround... the Stars will blitz them.

Oettinger (no stranger to a stinker) is sitting at 2.9 saves above expected and both played 7 games. So he's 13 goals better with the same amount of games played. This could be a blitzing for the ages.

I forget if it was the first or second one last night where he fumble f***ed it and went swimming, thats on him. He also was way off his angle on the third goal, not square to the shooter or even playing a potential pass, he was too far in the opposite direction.

I will say he looked better in the 3rd and OT, coming out to challenge shooters. However with 13 shots in what was basically 3 periods of hockey.. not like he was tested very hard, certainly not blitzed like had been in most of the first half of games this series

His play this year hasn't been outstanding but he did backstopping his team to a series win and his overall playoff numbers aren't exactly Chicking Sieve material. So why is he getting lambasted so much?

If I was a Jets fan I'd be cool with him in the nets.

It's not as if any goalie plays spectacular every year. Playoffs are short and the nature of the beast is you go through peaks and valleys and sometimes those valleys take place during the playoffs

Keep in mind that the Jets' season was done, finished, over ... until they pulled him.

Solid in OT, but the Blues were running on fumes the entire extra frames. So something to build on maybe, but he's going to have to go into that first game in Dallas and have a solid night or it starts up all over again.

He gave up a ton of goals with generally stable defense (2nd fewest xGA/game and scoring chances/game, 4th fewest High danger chances per game). A .830 is an unacceptable sv% for a guy who's about to win his 2nd Vezina in a row and maybe a Hart

But, so were the Jets considering that after Mo got injured they had to play 5 d the whole game.

Only thing I question is why they don't rest him more in the regular season.
He wants to play, he's a gamer but sometimes gamers need to be held back for their own good.

Next year there is no way he should get more than 55, he has nothing left to prove in the season.

The only goalie statistics I follow are goals saved above expected per 60 and wins above replacement. Out of the 18 goalies that have played in 3 games or more this postseason, Hellebuyck currently sits at 18th place at both of those statistics, far far away from the rest of the pack... as he did last year.

I do wonder if getting this monkey off his back, even if he didn't play well, will make a huge difference to his confidence level. If it did and he can return to his regular season level of play, Winnipeg could make some noise.

Of course, that's a big If
