Which Blackhawks first overall pick would you rather draft?

Assume Kane has the career he's actually had and Bedard will have the career he'll have (we'll see how it turns out).

Bedard I think will be similar as a playmaker but a better goal scorer and connor has a bit more of an edge to his game already than Kane ever had. Kane has an advantage in skating, not in speed but agility, overall ability.

In a draft I’m definitely taking Bedard.

I still think Bedard has the higher potential, but i probably wouldn’t bank on it over a guy as good as Kane. I agree with the above that Bedard has similar play making with a better shot, but Kane’s hands and agility gave him an elusiveness that allowed him time and space. Without elite speed or size, I think it’s still TBD if and how Bedard will be able to open things up in a similar fashion in order to produce at an elite level.

Bedard was the better prospect so not knowing how they turn out I'd pick Bedard. But Bedard's ceiling is probably Kane.

This thread is insane lol, who on earth would choose Bedard over Kane? Kid has two decent seasons in the league whereas Kane has had an excellent career

It's the difference between a highly-touted prospect that turned out above expectations and a highly-touted prospect that is underwhelming to this point. 2007-08 was not a high-scoring year, yet Kane got it done over a full season as a rookie.

From Bedard vs. McDavid to Kane.. What's next? Slafkovsky? Yakupov? :sarcasm:

Just kidding. Obviously Kane. But Bedard will be good. It might just take time and a competitive team around him.

Why can't Chicago get some legitimate support for Bedard? The difference in talent around them in their rookie years is in favor of Kane, but it's not that big of a difference. Bedard was pretty much invisible when I saw him against the Oilers last season.

What’s funny about this thread is that you have a bunch of people ridiculing the premise of the poll, and yet it looks like every Blackhawk fan, who presumably have watched both players way more than anyone else, have voted for Bedard.

Bedard has the higher ceiling - and I still think he meets it.

So if you ask me who I expect to end up better player? Bedard.

Now - if you ask me who I pick for my team? Possibly Kane - because he's much more of a sure thing, and with Bedard it's more of a gamble.

Who would you rather have - Crosby or next year’s first overall pick?

I'm as big a Crosby fan as you'll see around here - but definitely give me Gavin McKenna. Sidney Crosby is already 37 years old.
