Do like Jersey did with Jack Hughes. It’s a risk to go such a long term but look at how Jersey made out with that contract for Jack! Bedard 9 x 8. Certainly it’s an overpay, but it’s a risk worth taking.

First ever $12m center with no defensive game and face off skill
That's gonna get pretty common in the coming years. $12 million is going to be the new $7 million sooner than you think. As a Blues fan, I'm rooting for Bedard to go the Matthews route and get to UFA ASAP

I'm hoping we lock him for 8 years, max 11 million. People on here will say it's the worst contract ever but once we see more fruits from the rebuild, hire a more experienced GM and ya know, surrounded the kid with talent hes going to explode offensively.

If I were Chicago, I'd wait another season before giving him 10+ M a year. His point per game is almost .9. Slightly lower this season from last season. Make him get it up to 1 before such a reward. And if he can't, would go with a bridge deal of say 3 x 8. But if he does, then you pay him his 10+ M a year.

Your math here makes no sense.
7 million is currently about 8% of the cap. In 3 seasons 12 million will be about 10% of the cap. So in 3 seasons they're about the same, or in 4 seasons 12 million will likely be even less of the cap than 7 million is now. That's what I meant.

Canucks will offer him a one year $18 million/max offer sheet. Hawks won't match, Canucks will then re-sign him to an 8 year deal with an average similar to Pettersson.
