Wow Keith vs Makar, another big run to fall early...should be a fun one in round 2.

As for this one....I'm not sure off hand. I'm leaning Quick, but it would be great if someone had a deeper analysis to provide comparing the 2 runs.

Devils team Roy played was infinitely better then the one Quick Played. 12 devils were a 6th seed who beat florida, 3rd seed Flyers with Bryz in net and then the 1 seed rangers with the King so they get credit for that one. 01 devils were defending champs and beat florida, toronto with joseph and pitt. Not sure which of Col LA would be considered more stacked but both were ridiculous

Colorado became quite a bit more run and gun under Hartley which gave Roy some more work. Compare that to my impression of Quick being on a dominant team possession/system wise (didn't watch too much of the run in 2012 doldrums of even the soft new NHL so just an impression).

I want to break a door by leaning towards Roy here, but that's Royesque itself... :/

LA barely made the playoffs in 2012 as an 8th seed. First ever 8th seed to win the cup IIRC.

01 Avalanche won the presidents trophy with 118 points. 01 Devils finished 3rd overall with 111 points.

12 Kings finished with 95 points while the Devils had 102. Both teams were significantly weaker regular season teams compared to the powerhouses that met in the final back in 2001

I voted Quick. He was amazing that year, arguably even better than the historic performance given by Tim Thomas only one year earlier.

Roy was great, but he was playing in the HEART of the dead-puck era. If the score was 1-0 heading into the 3rd, you were safe turning the game off.

There just weren't as many shots and prime scoring chances coming against him as there were in 2012, even behind the stingiest defense in the league at the time.

Quick for me.

Both very strong goaltending runs, but I have to go with Quick. I don't know how much better he realistically could have been. Best argument for Roy would probably be that he had a great series in the finals against the clear strongest team that either player faced on their cup run.

I.E.
It almost feels like sacrilege or just me being a homer but Quick, narrow-ish margin but clear.

Ooof double Devils loss here, Quick had the lesser team in front of him but the 2012 Devils weren't close to the 2001 Devils in terms of talent.

I'll take Quick here, he was unbeatable.
