Is Andersen starter job for the remainder of the season secured at 80% now ? Or lower ?
How come every Andersen thread is turning into a Gibson thread?

I dunno what this post is trying to prove but I know plenty about both Gibson and Andersens pre NHL careers, as a Ducks fan I take great interest in those types of things. At the age Gibson is now, Andersen was still playing in the Danish league. They're worlds apart at the same age which isn't to take away from Andersen, goaltending development is volatile and very difficult to predict.
No, no he wasn't!
At the age Gibson is now, Andersen was tearing up the SHL!!! On a team that was not known for it's stellar defense. He was also playing for the Danish sr. nt and was a big part of them having any kind of success.
Just comes to show you dont....![]()
Do the maths. When Andersen was 21 in the 2010-11 season he was playing in the Danish league.
Try again buddy.
Andersen was 21 to begin the SHL season, he was 19-20 when he became a big part of a Danish sr. nt.
And again, to me a couple months don't make the biggest difference. And I don't see what it is Gibson has done that is so fantastic?
Tell me again what makes Gibson such an elite goaltender already?
It's no secret you are not the biggest Andersen fan, Ducks supporter or not.
Gibson right now just turned 21. The year in which Andersen turned 21 at the beginning of it he was playing in the Danish league. He turned 22 right at the beginning of the year he played in the SEL. Gibson doesn't turn 22 for almost another calender year.
Nothing makes Gibson an elite goaltender already, I'm saying at the same age he had accomplished a lot more than Andersen which is why he is more lauded in the media than Andersen is.
And how would you know whether I'm a big Andersen fan or not? I'm skeptical of Andersen as I am of any young goalie, until they can replicate their success over a large sample size then it's very difficult to predict how good they'll be. He has great positioning and size but has below average reflexes and lateral mobility (which doesn't matter a huge amount as Giguere was below average in those areas too and he is the best goalie in Ducks history) and we're yet to see how he bounces back mentally from slumps.
Well if you want to nitpick...
Why are you not counting Andersens time with the Danish nt?
Fair enough, your allowed your opinion, I just think you are selling Andersen a little short as I wrote...
For me it's not a how good is Andersen, I just took notice to many mentionen how far ahead Gibson is of Andersen at the same age, when IMO it's not that far! I Think the SHL is way harder than the AHL and any Jr league or tourney, and I don't count those months as a lot. They are 3 months apart month wise.
Tbh, I don't see any reason to keep bringing up how much better Gibson is at the same age in an Andersen thread, and it is mentioned in almost every single Andersen thread.
Try 9 months actually. Pretty much a whole year. And if you want to count Andersen's time in the Danish NT, then you need to factor in Gibson stealing the starting job from Ben Bishop at the WCs at the age of 20. I personally think both are irrelevant as the WCs are an absolute joke.
As to me bringing up Gibson - I only brought up that Gibson had a better pedigree which is why the media hypes him more than Andersen. Jesus, why are you so defensive about the most trivial of statements?
Anywho, let's just agree to disagree and not further derail the thread![]()
gibson had almost an unprecedented run of success for a goalie prospect, his first NHL game was a shutout, his first NHL playoff game was a shutout. just because gibson had a bad first game doesn't mean people should be down on him.Andersen was 21 to begin the SHL season, he was 19-20 when he became a big part of a Danish sr. nt.

Oh and this is by no means a slight on Gibson, I still believe he has elite capability.
I just think you are selling Andersen a little short.
Just dropping in here from the other sections but do you guys recall a similar scenario with the Kings across the town from you guys?
Quick was supposed to be the stop gap goalie while Bernier ripened. Quick was good but Bernier had all these junior accolades. Eventually the Kings went with Quick as their long term guy.
Just food for thought![]()
quick had to backstop them to a cup though hehe.
First goalie to win 26 of his first 31 games.
