Great to hear he's locked up at that price. Doughty should be taking notes because he makes WAY more and Voynov has outplayed him, offensively at least. Kid's gonna be real good...

In 2-3 years he will be worth 5.5-6. What a deal, it also makes him a very good tradeable asset in the later stages of his contract....like JJ was.

This is incredible. We have almost 8 million dollars left to resign our FAs and/or make some moves this Off-season besides the Bernier trade. I really hope this opens the door for Scuds to resign.

Thank You Based Deano.

love the signing. Perfect mix of salary and years. Similar to the Giordano contract in Calgary and the kid is just going to get better.

The guy can score. Watched us trade away Zhitnek, then Vis - Glad we are keeping this guy.

Great deal. Would way rather have Voynov had 4.16 than Gonchar at 5 or streit at 5.5. Actually I would rather have Voynov at 5.5 than either of those two, so absolutely love it at this cap hit.

To be fair to Doughty, he signed that deal when the Kings were still having difficulty just making the playoffs. Players are a lot more open to these types of deals when they get to be on a winning team like this one.

Kings have 15 players signed for $56.7M -- leaving $959K per open roster spot per CapGeek. That means Scuderi will have to take a hell of a discount to stay in LA. Not sure that's going to happen.

Wondering, does this mean it's bye bye scuderi for sure?

Seems inevitable, sadly.

Damn you! Damn you for raining on my parade with your logic! :p:

Again, that's why I said hope. I guess I should have emphasized that. Also, not to attack you or anything, but what makes you sure Dean wouldn't open up some more cap space by trading some guys away (besides Bernier) or letting some other guys walk? Do you think Dean would try to bring everybody back again or do the best he possibly could to do so?

Voynov resigning plays no factor in whether we resign Scuderi or not. If Scuderi walks, I think DL waits to see if Mitchell will be ready...and if not...then he makes a move for someone else...If scuderi resigns...Mitchell is bought out.

Almost meaning a little less than $7.7 million according to capgeek. The other 6 RFA's not including Bernier had a collective cap hit just over $4 million. If Lombardi is bringing all 6 back, you figure raises probably going up to $4.5, at least. That leaves the Kings with somewhere around $3 million in cap space. That's with no backup goalie, and still one spot on the roster to fill. With the way the roster looks right now, that open spot would be up front.

Of course a lot depends on what happens with Mitchell, and the Kings probably won't know what that situation will be until well after July 5th. So that extra cap space may not really help going into next season.

Yes... I hold out hope for Scuderi because of that fact. However, there just isn't much money left to go around. Whatever they do with Bernier will likely generate more salary (unless it's a trade solely for picks). Dean's got a hole or two on the left wing that needs to be filled with roster players and associated salary (Holloway, etc.). There's not much pie left to split up.
