Conference Finals predictions

I would love that but it's like 4% probability
I like going for the long shots. Makes me look cool when I'm right and then I can delete the post and deny it ever happened if I'm wrong.

It now has been 6 years since the Cup final lacked any Sun Belt teams, which tend to bring in the lowest ratings.

If the NHL would adopt this alignment:

It would prevent any chance of an all-Sun Belt final and significantly diminish the chance of any Sun Belt team making it that far, as a maximum of two Sun Belt teams can be in the final 8 of the postseason under this format - one from the South Division, and one from the West Division.

I've received criticism for this proposal in the past, but I'm trying to save the NHL by significantly increasing the chance that two Snow Belt teams - many of which draw high ratings - will meet in the Cup Final.
That's because it's a bad proposal that tries to solve a non-existent problem.

Cant believe people are going against the Oilers. They look unvelievable so far. Dallas barely squeaked by a weak Winnipeg team.
Weak Winnipeg team? Legit won the president's trophy. If Helle plays like he did during the regular season the outcome would of been different. Dallas with Harley and Heskinen and Otter in net is a far superior back end than the Oilers. Edmonton may have the edge at forward but I still think Dallas has the edge for depth.

Defense is a wash, but Oettinger is elite. Carried that team through the first two rounds (along with Rantanen)

I see that people are not learning their lesson again by picking the Stars over the Oilers.
14 out of 22 (about 2/3) responses here so far are for the Oilers as is the poll in the series discussion. Edmonton is clearly getting the respect they deserve, but why is it so incomprehensible that a team with three straight WCF appearances might pull it off? I get it that Edmonton is good, but there's been several people here that seem offended by the idea that Dallas even has a shot. Both teams are clearly among the best in the league and losing this series doesn't change that. It's just weird that the disrespect is clearly in one direction far more than the other, yet it's anyone suggesting that it might be closer than y'all think who is being ridiculed.

Nobody is acting like the Stars will roll over a lowly Oilers team in a cakewalk. Yet some would have you believe it's the Oilers who are being treated like the overlooked underdogs in this series. That couldn't be further from the truth.

Winnipeg's goaltending was abysmal and Scheifele, Connor and Ehlers are all weak physically and easy to bully. Edmonton has the two best players in the world and a ton of strength and grit with guys like Kane, Perry, Frederic etc. They re getting a ton of scoring from their depth guys. I cheer for Winnipeg but Edmonton is a whole different level of class. The Jets were frauds like the Caps. They weren't nearly as good when the level of physicality and checking increased in the playoffs.

It is a Florida/Edmonton Cup final..............again
That's my guess, and I am a Stars fan. The only thing that makes me doubt this prediction is that, as fans, we tend to think what happened the last time will happen again. In truth, repeat results from game to game, series to series, and year to year are pretty rare (other than EDM beating LA multiple years in a row).

I think the Stars can win this series if someone reminds them not to leave McDavid all alone in front of their net, as they did in the game 1 OT last year.

I don't know if the Panthers have enough left in the tank to beat Carolina. That one's a coin flip IMO.

Edmonton is 100% winning the west, though. Every single NHL.com writer picked the Stars. It's over.

I have Carolina in 6.

Edmonton/Dallas is a tough one.

I'll say stars in 7.

Dallas Carolina final that will bring giant ratings on both sides of the border.
