I'm not worried about the third year. If he continues to shine the way he did last season, he could get traded easily. He'll get more games than your average backup goalie and should keep Anderson fresh. I like it.
Based on the terms, it looks like they are expecting Andy to retire in 2 or less seasons. The third year Condon would be sharing starts/competing with Hogberg/Driedger/Other.
The AAV represents his contribution, but it's an awkward figure. It's not backup money, but it isn't starter money.
In any case, see ya later, Hammond. Much happier going into the year with Mike than with Hammond. I will be confident each game that we will have the goaltending to win.
Much higher than I expected but if it means solidifying the spot behind Andy, and possibly grooming him as a cheap starter by year three, I'm tentatively in.
Gives Hogberg and Driedger more time to develop, too, if the org isn't sure they'll be ready.
I think the trend for most goalies is to go as close to a 50/50 split as possible. Condon's gonna get alot of starts as the backup and as such I think he'll have good trade value if it comes to that in the next 2 years. Don't mind the deal.
Condon burrows and pyatt. All "it's just one contract not gonna cause any issues". Yo that's 6 million dollars spent on a back up golie and two 4th liners that will produce veeeeeeeery little.
$2.4 is too much for us IMO, however, Condon is a quality guy, so he is worth it, just not sure we can afford it. I think Condon would have got something similar July 1st. No discount here.
Happy we re-signed him either way. Now, how do we improve the rest of the team???
