That would be a shame to get injured in a meaningless exhibition tournament

That’s the story many will run with. It’s possible he tweaked something fighting

Pretty sure he tweaked something in his leg making a stop or quick turn. I mean they showed the replay of his last shift and he played plenty after the fight.

This logic has always been hilarious to me.

1.Any player can get injured at any point, a few extra games don't change that
2.What if your rival team's player gets injured, was it bad from your own team's perspective then?
3.2 Means that the risk is equally there for any/all teams meaning that there is effectively no risk for anyone

Best on best Hockey is amazing, injuries have and always will be a moot point.
My guess is some of the people who said 'the tourney will be like the All Star game' will now pivot to 'see, look at all the injuries these massively intense games caused', which seems a bit ironic.

Things like this were bound to happen. There's a reason players don't try hard at the ASG.

And let's cut the dishonesty about best on best. The tourney was never best on best when a good portion of the league's star players were excluded from competing. Four nations competed? Yes. Best on best? Dont embarrass yourself.

The real winners of the exhibition were the teams who weren't affected much. Looking at you Washington. Glad that the top team in the league had nobody worthy of "best on best."
Well if Russia isn't allowed the Olympics won't be BOB either, so might as well
have the NHL pull out right?

There is no verified proof that he was hurt during fight... nor is there any proof that he is out for the season ..

Yet here we sit with people claiming these narratives.

No I'm sure he got injured sitting on the toilet, or maybe the 5 minutes he played in the final, surely can't be the fight

Womp womp. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

That injury is a worse case scenario. That is the reason why we need the World Cup to be in February and a Stanley Cup final being held just at end of January before the World Cup so that teams don't miss their star player playing for the Stanley Cup. Season should start in July and ending in early February on Olympic year with 72 game schedule and non-Olympic years, ending in late February with World Cup in early March with a 82-game schedule. Would love to see Stanley Cup playoffs during winter, not spring. I mean, I can imagine hockey during summertime with advanced ice technology all year around and we can choose spring to just wind down and enjoy the warm weather without having to watch the playoffs and allow for people to study for finals without any distractions. Players can have their off-season training during spring with training camp in June and season from July to December and playoffs from December/January. Covid years being played in summer taught me something, we can still watch hockey in summer even with hot weather outdoor without any issue.

Quit with your fantasy world. The owners will NEVER go to a 72 game season.

That would be a rough week. Run your mouth over the battle, lose the “war”, potentially watch your team squander three point first place lead in 36 hours, done for season? Anyone know how his mouth guard is?

He may have been hurt before but the fight may have aggravated it. Either way it was a dumb decision. I mean he fights and then is hurt after, not hard to put two and two together. But I'm sure you're a doctor and you know everything.

Was meaningless to you but not the players or 16M people tuned into that
epic "meaningless" game. That game for excitement exceeded the last several Super Bowls going back to the Falcons\Patriots game.

I am a Pats fan being from Greater Boston. If the US had won the game I would have traded the Patriots Super Bowl wins against Philly and LA, no questions asked.
Epic? Lol

no.... no.... NOOOOOO. f***in hell there goes my chance at winning my 32 team league this year. by far my the strongest team Ive ever built and this along with Lauzon are major losses. Trade Deadline just passed on Sunday.

but also I hope he recovers quickly not only for my team but he's just a great player in general.
I mean it’s pretty clear that you want him to recover mostly because of your fantasy team 😂

Needless to say, the entire National Hockey League community is devastated by this unfortunate news and wishing Matthew Tkachuk a speedy recovery.

Hopefully he gets support in the group chat
AM:
“What a stupid event. Finish second to a team we were 1-1 against?! We should be tied for first.”

BT:
“I like candy!”

JTM
“Shut up you moron, you’re even dumber than Petey. I should have punched you in the face instead of myself.”

MT:
“I’m out (for the season).”
