That injury is a worse case scenario. That is the reason why we need the World Cup to be in February and a Stanley Cup final being held just at end of January before the World Cup so that teams don't miss their star player playing for the Stanley Cup. Season should start in July and ending in early February on Olympic year with 72 game schedule and non-Olympic years, ending in late February with World Cup in early March with a 82-game schedule. Would love to see Stanley Cup playoffs during winter, not spring. I mean, I can imagine hockey during summertime with advanced ice technology all year around and we can choose spring to just wind down and enjoy the warm weather without having to watch the playoffs and allow for people to study for finals without any distractions. Players can have their off-season training during spring with training camp in June and season from July to December and playoffs from December/January. Covid years being played in summer taught me something, we can still watch hockey in summer even with hot weather outdoor without any issue.

lot of love and support for our Lady Byng candidate and Stanley cup champ chuckster in here

This logic has always been hilarious to me.

1.Any player can get injured at any point, a few extra games don't change that
2.What if your rival team's player gets injured, was it bad from your own team's perspective then?
3.2 Means that the risk is equally there for any/all teams meaning that there is effectively no risk for anyone

Best on best Hockey is amazing, injuries have and always will be a moot point.
I don't know about #3 as the best teams usually have the best players. Didn't Florida have the most? If so they assumed the most risk and looked what happened.

Meaningless tournament in the middle of the season put quite a few players out. Bravo job NHL. But hey, you made a few bucks and that’s all that matters.

yeah, but they played in a way that they were more likely to get injured or injure themselves. THey could have been smarter in their play and still be available and might have even contributed in the final game of the tournament. Instead they chose selfishness, especially after knowing he was hurt. Not much of a team player IMO he put the US in a bad spot for final. He expected a coronation and wanted to be on the ice in a uniform for it. It might have cost the team the trophy. Matthew Tkatchuk has a lot to learn and hopefully he uses his recovery time to think on it.

But he doesn’t mind because he cared more about best on best Hockey than NHL. ”Biggest games of my life”. Just like you predicted before the tournament.

your type is champions?

Were you on the florida panthers last season?

I've been around for my team winning the cup as well, does that make me a champion too?
Yeah I’m Evan Rodrigues.

No you weren’t.

Tkachuk is a Stanley cup champion. Connor Mcdavid and Draisaitl didn’t even bother showing up to the finals. Sounds like they could use some thinking.

Was meaningless to you but not the players or 16M people tuned into that
epic "meaningless" game. That game for excitement exceeded the last several Super Bowls going back to the Falcons\Patriots game.

I am a Pats fan being from Greater Boston. If the US had won the game I would have traded the Patriots Super Bowl wins against Philly and LA, no questions asked.

With the Panthers Matthew has shown nothing but being a team player. Most Every player would’ve tried to play in that game. Unless he got poor info from the training staff, This is more on the head coach not reading the situation and putting the brakes on a player that he knows is hurt.

“.....outside of game 7 for the Stanley Cup”.
Use his whole quote or don’t use it at all

Yeah, spare me this non Olympic best on best stuff it it ruins your team season
This was my thought all along and why I wasn’t a big fan of the tournament.

Although given how many games are left in the season there’s a decent chance this injury would have occurred anyway. It’s not like he was playing a completely different game.
