we wouldn't have qualified him anywaysIt’s asinine for the team to invest that much time in developing Comrie just to let him go because he didn’t hit enough games played to keep in RFA. Even if Comrie had no future with the Jets not to even get a 7th rounder is strange to me.
Because the Jets didn’t have cap space?we wouldn't have qualified him anyways
because they wouldn't have liked his arb award, just like with svechBecause the Jets didn’t have cap space?
Draft and develop! (For other teams)Terrible work by Chevy. Kid earned his starts last year and Helle was off his best and still they ran him into the ground.
Winnipeg is never going to be an FA destination, especially when it isn' winning, so it has to win on the margins, and optimize every asset and move.
And here it gave up a solid backup who could have provided at least 20 - 30 games and given Helle some rest, as well as a clearly beloved teammate, because they couldn't squeeze him into an extra 5 periods over 82 games.
Chevy will blow this one off, but they all add up. I can't see the Jets lockerroom being happy to see Eric go, but I can certainly see more of them eying the exits.
I prefer 2 or 3 year deals for backups. Glue guys.I like the idea of cheap 1 year deals on #2 goalies. Actually I like it for all players.....let them have their big "contract year" and move on.
Well.........there is some truth there. Comrie was a "glue guy" by all accounts.I prefer 2 or 3 year deals for backups. Glue guys.
I have a hard time believing an NHL organization could make a mistake of such magnitude. That would be like... I don't know, like trading a player without checking to see if he had a NTC in his contract. Just unthinkable at this level.I have to believe Murat who said there is a good chance the Jets totally mismanaged it and believed his games appeared made him an RFA, miscalculating minutes played.
Dale Tallon missed the QO deadline for a bunch of RFAs back in the day and ended up losing his GM job in Chicago over it.I have a hard time believing an NHL organization could make a mistake of such magnitude. Chicago strikes me as an organization with zero tolerance for such things. Sexual misconduct, maybe not so much...Dale Tallon missed the QO deadline for a bunch of RFAs back in the day and ended up losing his GM job in Chicago over it.
if that's the case why didn't he "stick" aroundWell.........there is some truth there. Comrie was a "glue guy" by all accounts.
