everyone was bad but this is the norm for dunn. hes not a very good defender and his 30-35pts a year dont justify the absolute garbage he causes on the backend.

Seems like a lot of displeasure with Dunn. I realize in the time I have watched him that he can get beat in one on one situations, but his offensive instincts and skills are high. Also, he is 23, and defensemen tend to peak later than forwards. I'd take a chance on him and sign $3.5 - $4 mill per for 4 - 5 years, could become a steal if he continues to improve.

Almost certainly signed. It’s hard to imagine guys holding out much over bridge contracts with the current situation. Since he has no arbitration, Dunn’s only leverage is threatening to play elsewhere (Europe) or not play at all. Sit out a few weeks this season, and you could miss most of the season. It’s hard to see how that would be increasing your value or your long term earnings.

I'd rather keep Dunn, but DA always has a plan A, plan B, and a plan C.

No other moves are necessary to fit a typical bridge contract. For most close observers, we were more curious whether they might trade him as currency for a forward. He has good value, but he probably projects to the 3rd pairing on the Blues and could be top 4 on many teams.

I assume we are past the point where a trade would be likely. I think the worst that happens is maybe he holds out for a couple weeks then signs something 2-3M AAV. This year a 2 week holdout means you start missing regular season games. It’s a dangerous game for him to play, because he might never regain his footing and perform as well as he expects to, harming future earnings where he is more likely to command a longer and more lucrative AAV.
