Here is Central Scouting's comparison list for their top 30 North American skaters, provided exclusively to NHL.com.

...
3. Brett Connolly, RW -- Peter Forsberg (Sweden)

If not for hip and groin injuries that limited him much of the season, Central Scouting's third-rated prospect, right wing Brett Connolly of the Western Hockey League's Prince George Cougars, might have been in the Seguin-Hall conversation for the No. 1 spot. Still, despite playing only 16 games this season he had 10 goals and 19 points and went from fourth on January's midterm report to third on the final list.

A North American skater being compared to Peter the Great. He has pushed the comparison to new height, with an almost season long injury.

Tell me more please!

I wouldn't put too much into these comparisons.

They ranked Austin Watson to Kris Draper and Cam Fowler to Mike Green.:help:

About the only thing Brett Connolly and Peter Forsberg have in comman is Brett plays with Jesse Forsberg, and his team is about to draft Alex Forsberg in the upcoming bantam draft.

After that, the style of play, I just dont see. I see much more Dany Heatly in Connolly than Peter Forsberg.

I just read through their lists, its almost as if the list is off a notch or two, not many I agree with, atleast the players I know fairly well.

Also Riley Sheahan was compared to Jordan Staal and Kevin Hayes to Eric Staal yet Hayes is ranked 26 and Sheahan 22. I 'm a big Jordan Staal supporter but if I had to pick between the two Staal's it's an easy choice.

McGuire said. "It offers them a visual picture and recognizable name to associate each of the players with. Keep in mind, these brainstorming comparisons could be something we see in the form of leadership, a specific shot, toughness or skating ability."

I think they should have told us what in particular they were comparing because otherwise drafting Kris Draper before Eric Staal and Brent Seabrook makes absolutely no sense whatsoever

Meh, not as exciting.

Exactly what I would like to know!

Gormley compared to Phillips? That's a strange one.

Pysyk compared to Keith, although it's a huge reach for Pysyk to even come close to Keith's level, is actually a decent one. I think their game is similar.

I don't think you understand the comparison. It doesn't mean they're gonna be as good as Eric Staal, it means he plays like Eric Staal.. nothing else.

I understand what it means, they're comparing a particular part of the player's game but without telling us which part the comparisons make little sense.
