This site is funny in many ways. Once it judges or labels a player, that player can win a Norris Trophy and most of those people will still hate on that player.
Ristolainen is one of those players on this site, but make no mistake, he’s become a really solid Top 4 Dman, who’s not easy to play against.
So I think the Laughton/Risto combo would be great. It can definitely help a team get over the hump, or be the difference of a round for other teams.
I hate throwing actual compensation out there because every deal is it’s own deal anymore, The Flyers could get a nice package for those two combined though.
The Oleksiak/McCann one could be sneaky too. At least in regards to the difference they can make.
Obviously the ROR/Schenn one is very one sided towards O’Reilly but Schenn can be a real good 5/6 on a team and kill penalties.
Hopefully there’s lots of movement this week. Being in the rinks the last month doing 2026 draft prep, the amount of pro scouts that have been at some WHL games is high compared to most seasons. When you see pro scouts from Philly watching 2 random Kamloops games, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know they’re there watching Emmitt Finnie for example. We’re seeing a lot more of that this year. You may get the random pro scouts at Medicine Hat games because of McKenna but definitely not Kamloops this year.
So hopefully a lot goes down. It’s a fun week every year.

I think his value is already high because trotz has already set it high. If trotz is serious about building a contender he'll trade orielly for the best package possible and hopefully marchessault waives because i think he can bring something really good as well. Trotz has to see that this core will never be a contender, even if we bring I'm a competent coach we're a bubble team first round exit type of team. Time to sell

Contracts and cap hit balancing out can be a factor
If you are trading a LD for a RW as the main pieces you might have an undercard of d gor wing to balance position depth out
