This should put all this playoff talk BS to rest. These are the unforgivable losses. We are now officially in offseason mode. The Jackets just went into the sellers column. Wiz, Letestu, Anisimov, Atkinson, etc. may be in their final week as Jackets. Also, for the advanced stats guys, spare me the info tonight, the only thing that matters is they lost AT HOME to the worst team in the league. There is absolutely no excuse for this tonight, I don't care how injured you are.

The Sabre blocked shots did impact the game advanced stats or not... That said, I agree with the sell mentality.. Bob being out is a huge factor but even with him I don't think the two scoring lines and secondary scoring is good enough to advance in the playoffs..

Sloppy penalties, bad defense, bad goaltending and the inability to put the puck in the net with that many chances does not add up to playing well enough to win in my book.

I don't agree on the sloppy penalties or bad defense at all. Officiating was rough for both teams. The jackets defense did fine in front of Forsberg but there is absolutely no way the Stewart goal, girgensons goal, and whoever scored the first goal should go in. That's on him, not the D

If that's how you see it fair enough but, giving them a 5 on 3 is inexcusable and I'm not going to blame the refs for this one....

Goal #3 wasn't much better. Middle of the net. Just goes to show how much BETTER the NHL really is compared to the AHL,SEL,KHL, etc....

That 1 handed "hook" call was ridiculous. Savard lover, hater, whatever. That should have never been called. If that's a hook they should call a penalty on every shift.

Yes it was a weak call but, he has to be smarter in that situation and not risk his stick getting that far into the body. Already down a man, didn't need to do it.

Doesn't sound like a coach fighting or a playoff spot. No matter what they claim about still thinking they had a chance, they know they are out of it.

Even with a win there would have to be so much that happens for other teams to not win and CBJ to win 20 games out of what like 25 left? what better chance to test the teams adversity and Forsberg than against the worst team in the league. at this point I just want to see close games and see what some young guys can do. also dont rush murray or jenner back.

Don't tempt CA! I'm sure he's already got that post typed out :sarcasm:

Nope, not feeling real positive tonight. The forwards played their ***** off, Forsberg was garbage, he was bad on all 4 goals, can't blame anyone else. Missed opportunity to gain ground on Philly and Boston and potentially Florida if the Hawks win in OT.

I really question Richards decision to run the kid out there again, Cmac had better be injured or incredibly fatigued to just throw another one away like that. The kid shouldn't be starting in the NHL when you are trying to make a run. Good thing I'm not a GM, I would probably have fired Richards for that.

We tend to play donw to our opposition. So this loss was not a surprise to me. Yes, Forsberg did not play well. But that should not excuse the heartless, gutless showing from the rest of the team. there was little effort from the team. There was no effort from superstar Joey. When you play like they did tonite a bad performance by a young goalie will do you in. But this is a team game. And the team stunk tonite.

I don't agree, they put 47 shots on net, sure you need to finish, but the game was lost by Forsberg, plain and simple, I've watched all 4 goals multiple times and they were all bad. 3 non-screened shots and he skated out for some reason then fell down on the breakaway, that's on him even if it was a bad play to give up a breakaway on the PP

I absolutely agree, I would have pulled Forsburg after the second Swiss cheese goal.
Forsburg is not ready for the NHL yet.
But what I could not understand was Todd Richards incompetence.
Maybe told not to pull him by higher up? or tankin?
Which I think is bad for the locker room and fans.
I bleed blue but Richards needs to scratch himself. Bylsma

So I didn't catch the game, and perhaps this was pointed out earlier, but I'm pretty sure we lost because Porty, who I normally don't have much of a problem with, referred to the Sabres as 'lowly.'

Stones, glass houses and all that.

I think all the media didn't want to say it. But Rimmer said surely a goalie change now. Then it went to Richards wants to test his team. Not something you would do if you wanted to win, if you saw the game.

Forsberg improved his save percentage with tonite's "effort"

I thought that the Bronx cheers by the fans were excellent. I haven't seen such brutal goaltending since I endured a failed first round pick (Chet Pickard #18 overall Nashville 2008) for 2 years in Cincinnati (ECHL).

Forsberg barfed up numerous rebounds and his glove hand was about the weakest that I've ever seen in an NHL game. He's lucky that he didn't give up 8. For the love of God, I hope he doesn't see any more NHL action this year. Sign an AHL free agent to back up Mcbackup until Bob gets healthy. If Forsberg has potential NHL talent (really tough to see from his performances so far) his confidence is getting trashed by his putrid performances. He has been Special Olympian quality in the NHL. Enough already.

Wennberg is being treated like royalty. First line, first wave of the power play.:shakehead The Sabres appeared to have decided not to cover him on the PP, so he was always open and the puck went toward him as a result. Yeah, he had a lot of shots, but anyone would have given the role he played.

It's obvious that the team has given up on this season given the absurdity of putting Wennberg in these roles. I have to think that the FO is driving this train. Along with the Forsberg Follies.

A very good crowd given the circumstances of this season, the opponent and the night of the week. It reinforces my belief that Columbus will become a great hockey town once the team reaches a real competitive status.

A few cold hours ago
I can still remember
How that playoff hope made me smile
And I knew we still had a chance
If Boston fumbled and lost its stance
And maybe games would matter for a while

But the last week made me shiver
With every point the Jackets didn't deliver
Below the bar, we were dwellers
Would Jarmo be a buyer or a seller?

I can't remember if I cried
When I saw Forsberg fall on his side
But it was when Buffalo came to Nationwide
I knew the season had died

So,

Bye, bye, the post season this time
Maybe Jenner will be better and we'll draft a new line
We'll bubble wrap Murray so he'll be there first night
Singin' next season they will be all right
Next season they will be all right...

Gotta improve the overall offensive roster.... it's just not good enough to maintain a solid winning season... The current roster is bubble stuff... around 14-16 place if healthy not counting Horton...
It is not true. Even with the current roster we can and had to fight for PO. All of our problem this season is that Richards still on the bench. Fire him now. Right away. Home defeat from Buffalo, the worst team of league, would be a "worthy" completion his work in our team.
