Do other fanbases have goalie shipping wars like we do? The blue jacket subreddit is a flaming tirefire right now because of it
Yes they do
The major difference is that they are used to their teams being good
We, on the other hand dream of getting to that level

The league kind thinks that. He was traded for a conditional 4th.

it’s not that deep man. “Bum” - he’s still an NHL player. Just seems like we always let ex-players score. He has one goal in his last 9. If you stretch that out to 10, he would have 2… because game 10 he also played Columbus and we let him score then too (9 of his 13 goals came in the first 12GP).

You probably loved Alex Nylander? He scored a lot.
No not at all. But if he scored on us I wouldn't call him a bum because I'm not a clown.

You a family friend or something? Why are you so upset over a single word posted about an Ex-Jacket, by a stranger, on a hockey forum..? Bum - of poor quality.
Because I'm contextually aware of what's going on with this team.

You realize every time we score on someone, or outshoot someone, or god forbid win, you know what the whole world is thinking right? Wow they lost to the bumass Blue jackets. For decades. And the best part? They're absolutely right. This team has been a dumpster fire for 25 years.

So naturally when a guy leaves said bumass jackets and goes and finds success, maybe it reflects more on the blue jackets than the player. Again, well deserved. I like what DW is building but for us to call anybody bums is hilarious. We're the joke. We're the punchline.

I hear you. But Roslovic was never a top player on the bumass Blue Jackets. Or the Jets, or the Rangers. Nylander had success, and has now been sent down in Toronto too. Roslovic has always had hot starts, but never anything more than a middle 6 winger with flaws. Hes in a contract year too. So I’m not buying that he’s a top player now, nor do I want him to have any success against us! Plenty of guys on good teams that aren’t very good players.

Regardless I still think you don’t need to worry about it. Not that deep.

Well, he is the tough guy.

It was a dive. I literally forgot what happened to cause it but, Olivier is pretty smart with how he does things, it’s just that things all called so crazy nowadays you never know what is or isn’t going to be called.

Like Boll and Dorsett of the past, he doesn’t need to change a thing.

IMO
If anything I'd like to see Olivier ramp it up a bit.

A legit intimitatdor in today's game is a huge benefit. IMO

Watched until 2-0. Appears I made the right decision to bail.

Going to need a very strong ending of December to stay afloat. And a strong January.

playoffs were always a long shot, unfortunately we just don't have the firepower even with a lot of overperformance and the heroics from Werenski. That being said this is the most optimistic I have been for this franchise since we beat the lightning. A competitive team night in and night out despite some of the worst goaltending in the league and by far the lowest payroll and age. We have tons of assets at our disposal with more on deck. A lot of silver lining to the clouds this week, which is something I rarely even think let alone say.

We have plenty of firepower. We score a crap ton. Goals against is the issue.

If everyone would just remember there should have been zero expectations about this team.

Young talent needs to grow. we do not have the talent and experiences as the rest of the division. Making the playoffs this year was a pipe dream on day one and should still be considered as such. We are still probably 2 years away with proper development but I hope once we get there were are consistently there.

I meant firepower as in team talent. We don't have the depth to handle teams rolling lines against or when teams get to choose matchups. It's one of my best guesses as to why we are so bad on the road. We are an easy team to match up against once you get past the 1st line (maybe first 2) and the 1st pairing. We need more scoring talent to push real threats down to the third line and to balance the the second line plus we need 2 D upgrades at least on top of the most glaring need in goal. A lot of those answers may come organically (Chinny + Jenner return, Fantilli improvement, Mateychuk/Brindley/LDBB Callup) but we need some additional dimensions to the team to make real progress on what looks like a promising development group.

You think some fans would understand this but I am starting to see calls for Waddell to be fired. It was nice while it lasted but all the social media sites are in pure doom mode now with their feelings over facts. To me this year has been a success after how this summer went because we are starting to see who is in and who is out when we open that window in say 2 years.

I mean the fact we are 3 points out at the Christmas freeze alone should say how good be have been than the 0% moneypuck expected from us.

This was always going to be the blender month based on the schedule. December was always going to be the hardest month and March after the outdoor game is almost just as bad. I mean look today we were on less than 24 hours rest, had to travel to play one of the better teams in the division even after it being an extended game.

At the beginning of January and a large portion of February we have some of the "weaker" teams but then again we sometimes play down which is to be expected from a younger team.

I think I saw porty post a stat that had us under .500 against teams under us in the standings. Which is probably why we’re not going to be in the race much longer. If we had a near .600 record against these teams we’d be deep in the race.

We are a better team with Chinakhov in the lineup, not only he’s a unique blend of skill and speed, his presence also gives much more flexibility with the lines.

I expect us to get better when he returns
