it's no secret Jarmo has never been a fan of Puljujarvi

I can't see Columbus ever acquiring him as long as Jarmo is there

do agree value is close

Well this is from two years ago so that might not be the case

If Puljujarvi was a deal breaker he could be swapped out for Yamamoto.

That said I wouldn’t do this deal as proposed unless Gavrikov agreed to extend.

I also don’t see who takes Barrie’s spot on RD even though I have no issues moving him. Maybe replace Kuraly with a bottom pairing RD

so a 2nd pairing defensive Defensemen + a 4th line center

For

PP specialist + reclamation project + ???? + 1st

Looks good to me. Oilers need Defensemen that can actually do their job and Jackets get a 1st. There will probably be a UFA available in the off season that can fit in Gav's spot.

Vladislav Gavrikov and Sean Kuraly
for
Tyson Barrie, Jesse Puljujarvi, Matvey Petrov, and unprotected 2023 1st

Columbus should definitely do this. They'd be renting out Gavi for a late 1st either way. This adds JP who can be a good checking forward (a real need) and Barrie who is probably not a long term fit but should make for an immediate PP1 upgrade (RH to RH with Laine). Kuraly will be missed but next year they've got Voronkov among others who might step up.

RNH-McDavid-Hyman
Kane-Draisaitl-Yamamoto
Holloway-McLeod-Foegle
Shore-Kuraly-Ryan

Nurse-Ceci
Gavrikov-Bouchard
Niemelainen - Kulak and Broberg have both played RD
Murray

As for the extension, I'm sure it won't be hard if he fits in just like Kulak last summer

I think that's probably not true.

Jarmo didn't think he was worth a #3 pick but Jesse offers a lot of size / speed / checking ability even if he lacks the puck skills and awareness to be a scoring line forward. And the Jackets need checking ability.

Barrie is exactly what Columbus needs and needs less of all at once. They already have a weak blueline with guys they need to shelter but they also need a PP specialist in the worst way.

The 1st and Pulju are worth it though

Barrie's term is awkward but I'd love to bring him in to fix the powerplay and then hopefully ship him out if we don't need him for next year.

Not sure Columbus should be targeting Barrie unless they're ready to move on from Boqvist

I don’t understand why on earth he would be a deal breaker

I feel like you're adding too much for a guy the Oilers don't need(Kuraly).

It shouldn't cost much more than just the 1st for Gavrikov.

Kuraly is actually a pretty good PK'er and plays a physical game.
As for the value - I try to think what is fair and add a little(bias insurance)

Edmonton gains 2.2M in cap space on the deal, that is valuable for the people that think Oilers are paying too much.
Problem is that Columbus doesn't have that much cap space.

Solid proposal. I'm sure there would be negotiations around the margins, especially protections on the 1st, but the end result is what both teams are looking for.

As long as Edmonton can turn around and use the extra cap space to find a solid forward rental, their roster would be undeniably better at a modest cost.

No, Petrov is one of our top prospects and he's not being moved for a bottom pair dman and a 4th liner and adding a 1st rounder (unprotected no less) is just an insult to that. JP has more value than this too.

It's basically a 1-for-1. Barrie for Gavrikov.
