No chance in hell, who is the last player who was traded for that much ?

Maybe Karlsson, depends on how you view prospects etc.

Regardless, the answer has been the Blues aren’t trading Parayko. You trade him and the whole backend falls apart. Backend falls apart and the hopes of turning things around next year or more likely like was planned from the beginning your chances are virtually zero. It enters you in to a pretty long rebuild of having to somehow draft or acquire two difference makers on defense, versus one.

Yes Parayko likely doesn’t fit the timeline of the Blues. But unless the blues are willing to burn down the foundation. He isn’t moving.

Parayko is the perfect player for a team contending now, so not the Habs.

Teams missing only a top pair D and having cap issues should offer the world.
Oilers, Stars, Leafs…and maybe the usual suspects like Tampa and Vegas.
Four runs at 6.5m for a RHD with a big body…a no brainer.

If it were possible, every team would take Parayko.

Karlsson coming from his best season ever, was traded for Granlund (a cap dump at that time), a 1st top-10 protected and Rutta. Not only Karlsson's value was higher than Parayko's current value, but MTL's package is also significantly higher...

People are dreaming if they think that Parayko can bring back Reinbacher, a top-10 protected pick and Roy/Kapanen.

I understand that many Blues fan want to keep him, it's fine, but you need to be realistic about his value.

Either way, the Habs suck, we can't trade for him, it makes no sense.

You don’t need to be realistic about his value. The value is he isn’t being moved. Crazy high asks are thrown out there, because those are the pieces the Blues would need in order to move Parayko, not what his value is. We don’t have a RHD who looks to be anything more than an AHL defenseman after Parayko and Faulk aside from Jiricek, and he lost a good chunk of this and last season to injury. I’d imagine his time frame of NHL readiness is more than 3-4 years away.

There’s no rift between the organization, and the organization has seemingly no intention of ripping the bottom out of this thing.

Karlsson was seemingly moved in lieu of the issues with Hoffman etc. pretty sure he was a UFA to be as well, but could be wrong there.

There’s always a reason guys are moved when you look at assumed value. That’s what most proposals are based off of. It takes both teams to have the desire to make the trade for a reason. There’s not a reason on the Blues end to want to move Parayko unless they intend on a non 3-5 year rebuild/retool from the beginning which is either last season or this season.

Reinbacher is likely thrown around as he would bridge the gap a bit easier, making it make a little bit more sense. His style seemingly from draft scouting reports could eventually grow into the role that Parayko currently filled prior to this year, now he seemingly has added a lot more offense to his game that I’m not sure Reinbacher will ever get the opportunity to have.

Again, I don’t care whether the Habs have interest or not. It’s a fatal move towards the Blues very open plans if they move Parayko for your typical UFA to be package.

As well-rounded as Parayko is, I don't think acquiring a player that will be 32 in May and has 5 more years on his deal fits in the Habs window.

No, Hoffman was traded from the Sens because of his issue with Karlsson, it has nothing to do with his trade from San Jose.
