This is an interesting argument. I was one who ripped Kucherov for all his EN points in 23-24 and believe it cost him the Hart, but there has to be something to your team being up late in games and your team depending on you to close out the games.

Is an EN easier than one with literally anything in it? Yes, but the Avs as a team should get some credit for being up late in games compared to going to OT and potentially losing.
So why aren’t you ripping Rantanen and MacKinnon then, like you should be doing.

Well, Avs fans do, considering no one ever talked about ENP before last season and they took every chance they could to diminish Kucherov.
How is this so hard to understand this long after the fact?

That was suggested as a reason as to why the Hart went to MacKinnon despite slightly lower point totals. It was literally just a theory lmao. We don't even know if that's why he really won - probably many different reasons for different voters.

Avs fans don't vote on the award. We can't "diminish" Kucherov lol. Avs fans just made arguments in favor of their guy. Why are you acting like you can't understand this? lol

Let me flip it on you. What’s so hard to understand about what I said? I wasn’t talking about the Hart—I was talking about MacKinnon boosters on this forum yapping all last season any time Kucherov collected an ENP because they knew it was a dagger in the scoring race. The posts are all there. Not my job to dig them all up just because MacKinnon boosters don’t want to take their medicine.

This is both lazy and petty

People getting irrationally upset about things like how a fanbase talks about and tried to build up their own player but using logic for any and everything is the backbone of this website as a whole. You take all of that out for any fanbase and this is a boring wasteland. Avs fans and Oilers fans included.

Agree completely, and it's also fair game to call out guys for total hypocrisy after all the whining last year and now they pull a 180.

For what it is worth, because it’s been brought up a few times here, being on the ice to score an empty netter is not a defacto indicator that a player is good defensively. There are plenty of players who get put on late for their puck skills and not defensive aptitude, Kucherov is one of them. There certainly are lots of players who do get icetime in those moments because they are good defensively, but most teams give their stars some of those minutes regardless of where they fall for defensive play, so it shouldn’t be read too much into.

Context can be important too. Rantanen's most recent ENG was from behind his own goal line, he's not just walking them in there

I should read the Avs board more because I dig the shitposting in this thread

I guess you have to do so when you have a team of worthless empty-net leaches and the only thing that will save your beta-ass team is an addition of Al Iafrate to the staff. Pathetic.
