:sarcasm:Completely disagree. I was right behind the bench and was in the hotel lobby watching Landy bring the Cup in. It was one of the best nights of my life and I can die happy now in my sports fandom. I might have given .000001% of my cheering to help them win.

So yes, until McDavid, Draisaitl, Hughes or whoever else wants to talk shit about MacKinnon/Makar get a cup, I have that to hold over them. And it wasnt 40 years ago.
And you can hang a banner for it forty years later.:sarcasm:

The difference between MacKinnon and Kucherov last year was EN points, just like it is this year, but reversed. One won the Art Ross, the other the Hart. If MacKinnon wins the Art Ross at this pace, it's not beyond belief if he doesn't win the Hart with the current competition, and I would be okay with it. I hope Hellebuyck can throw everyone for a loop and win the Hart.

Yes 70% of the voters voted purely on EN points...It was a landslide victory for macKinnon. It wasnt as simple as Points minus EN points = real Art Ross, I mean Hart winner.

Wouldnt it have been hung 39 years ago?

Same guys who put Toews in the top 100?

84-85 Oilers went 15-3 to win their Cup.
21-22 Avs went 16-4 to win theirs.

They have a real argument for greatest team assembled ever.
I think 00-01 was the best Avalanche team. Five Hall of Famers… Chris Dingman… puck poise…

Most people are fine with EN points just they are the powerplay points.

It’s the hypocrisy from certain fans that’s being called out.
As a degenerate gambler who regularly takes the Avalanche -1.5, I friggin love empty net goals!

who else are the Avs supposed to put out there when the nets empty to seal the game?
Right. You put your best players out there. Can blame the Avs for letting teams hang around in games instead of blowing them out, but to say they are doing it to pad stats is just silly.

Why does it take a player wearing a different sweater to come to this realization?

It doesnt. I initially thought the Hart trophy voting would be close and the EN points would be the difference, but voters proved that its more than that. Pure points doesnt get you the Hart.
The 1988 Oilers went 16 and 2 and beat three of the top five clubs in the NHL (incl. the 1st overall team) with an aggregate record of 12 and 1.
Their regular season wasnt as good is why I assume they arent considered the best? But the Avs 2022 team playoff wise is the best team weve seen in 25+ years. The 11-12 Kings did it, but did it as an 8 seed.

I just mentioned it for interest, as younger fans won't know that. Yes, the 1987-88 Oilers weren't as great in the regular season as any of the preceding six Oilers' teams. But also the 1985 Oilers weren't as good in the regular season as the 1984 Oilers.

Incidentally, the Oilers' core players from the Dynasty also don't feel the 1985 team was the best. They (Lowe and Gretzky, anyway) seem to feel the 1987 team was the best. I can see where they're coming from, because Sather added Ruotsalainen and Kent Nilsson late in the season.

Anyway, it's all silly as I think we can all agree that the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens are the best team, ever.
