Weird analysis. Pause it at 4 seconds, Drury is full on his left arm full body weight and then Seguin goes down. Its the biggest hold you will see all playoffs, two full arm bear hugs, into full body weight on the other player. I've never seen a more obvious penalty, there is no way it's controversial.
Players don't just randomly bear hug and drag players to the ice. They're smarter than that (unless your name is Miles Wood).

I'm not calling it embellishment. I'm calling it smart on Seguin to realize he boxed Drury out, felt Drury's left arm on his and immediately locked it.

It doesn't help that their skates clipped one anothers causing even more instability.

That is exactly what happened though? You keep saying Seguin is holding him meanwhile his left elbow is tucked to his side when Drury gets on to him, Seguin isn't even clamping on with Drury.. lol

Rantanen got way too comfortable here playing with Mackinnon. I haven't seen Rants move that way since 2022. We will be talking about Rantanen for years but I just have a sneaking feeling even if we had kept him he wouldn't have been this good.

I'm so damn numb to the Avs failures. Ugh.

Good for Rantanen. Incredibly frustrating that he never managed to do anything even close to the sort in a game 7 in an Avs sweater but hell of a period by him all the same. Really sucks that it took the chance to eliminate the Avs to wake him from a 2 year slumber
Rants had massive games in an Avs sweater lol he was our best player for an entire season and scored over 50 goals.

Does nobody remember this?

He did get complacent here. What might be relevant discussion however, is how much a new coach could have had a positive effect on Rantanen here. Assuming we will get a coaching change here.

I kept on saying in the Rantanen threads that there is very much a possibility that he will rejuvenate his game in Dallas, even if it takes some time to get used to. Sucks that it had to happen already in the playoffs against us.

Of course he did. Just not in a game 7 which is specifically what I was talking about. Wish we had seen yesterday’s game 7 Rantanen in any of his game 7s here. We’d be at least 1-3 in them and there’s a chance he’s still here if we had

I cannot believe I watched Mikko walk down the slot for free in a game 7 playoff game to score the 1st goal

After the last three games, this is what I feel as well.

MacKinnon, Makar, Toews, Nichushkin, Girard, etc. Way, way too complacent. It's clear the Bednar message is done with.

They need a new voice. The Mikko Rantanen we saw last night was 2022 dominant version.

Easily. Colorado never got that and never would get that.

Definitely the second-worst loss in Avalanche history after the 0-7 Game 7 against the Red Wings on home ice.

Last night's game passed the Minnesota Wild's Game 7 OT loss in misery.

Avs are just so damn good at helping other teams set records against them.
Always seem to be the team on the receiving end of “X player is the first player to accomplish Y feat in NHL history.” Or, “First rookie player to do <insert accomplishment here> in their professional first game”.

And if it’s not that, it’ll be “This team hasn’t won a game all season when XYZ happens”, and then said team plays the Avs and break that curse
