Avs are the only team in professional sports history (sports with game 7s) to lose seven straight game 7s.

Four of those seven losses have come in the Nathan MacKinnon/Cale Makar era. Five for MacKinnon going back to 2014.

Neither guy has played anything close to well in those games, either.

Hard to win in the NHL. Even harder when your best players are not your best players.

Colorado's two best players tonight were Logan O'Connor and Josh Manson.

Dallas' were Mikko Rantanen and Jake Oettinger.

See the problem?

If we were gonna change the coach, the one guy I’d really want was Sullivan but he’s gone to NY. Who’s out there that can be good for this team? I don’t really think Quenneville would be the answer either

Q would've jumbled the lines every period. Bednar is way too stubborn. Kept going with the same thing that didnt work.

This mindset from MacKinnon will remain no matter who the coach is. Whoever it is has to help him manage this.

He had goals, but he didn't play like he believed in himself, and that impacts the rest of the team too.
I am truly starting to believe MacKinnon does not need the chill, relaxed coach.

He needs someone to tell him to wake the f*** up and stop not giving a shit defensively, to stop moping, and play your heart out.

I think Nathan MacKinnon needs a coach who is an absolute asshole, but who knows wtf he is talking about.

I think Nathan MacKinnon needs Joel Quenneville.

When he does jumble the lines, everyone here says "blendar" and whines about it. There's no winning when it comes to sports fans.

The lines were fine. We blew the game

Bednar has to be part of the problem.

Rantanen doesn't go supernova like this if Jared is coaching.

I won't be surprised. The Kroenkes showed this season that they mean business by firing both GM and Head Coach of the Nuggets like what, two weeks before the end of the season? Now the Nuggets are off to the 2nd round after showing they could win a game 7 with a new coach after losing one last year with the old coach.

I don't think they will stop at the Nuggets. Jared Bednar and his assistants have been here forever, and we have 1 series win since 2022. That is unacceptable. This year's loss is unacceptable. I don't care how good Dallas is, they were missing two of their four best players and we couldn't beat them.

Bednar and his staff IMO are goners, and there's a strong possibility the Kronekes are pissed off enough to can CMac, too.
It needs to be understood that the Nuggets situation was unique. The GM and coach were constantly at odds with eachother, developing such a toxic workplace environment that it jeopardized this season and beyond. And even then, to Josh Kroenke's own admission, they waited too long to pull the trigger knowing this was going on as early as last year. Maybe seeing the Nuggets move on as a result will put more pressure on the fact that the Avs did not. But I'm not convinced. It really seems like he respects a hands-off approach with Joe at the helm.

2022 team was just filled with hate. Never really got to see that this year.

I'd hire Joel tomorrow. He sure as shit shouldn't lose to this loser DeBoer.

The refs had to call the penalty on Drury. It was too obvious and a very stupid play.

I think Avs played a good road game overall. Stars created pretty much nothing. Had Makar's stick not blown up, there is a good chance Avs win. I don't blame the coaching for the 5 vs 5 play. It was good.

The special teams however never worked. Avs had no adjustments for the aggressive PK. Avs had no adjustments for the down low cross crease play on the Stars PP. That's inexcusable.

I am beginning to buy into @Balthazar theory that these players are way, way too comfortable and complacent.

I ripped on Mikko and I am going to eat crow, but I do not think it's a coincidence he went nuts this series ESPECIALLY given how much less he played than when he was here. Mikko was fresh and flying in the 3rd. MacKinnon looked exhausted as usual based on the entire season.

The Avs as a whole look uninspired.

That is what I mean, though. Josh made the move and Josh got results immediately with a playoff series win against a team that honestly is deeper than the Nuggets. Eerily similar to us. The Avs high end talent is better, but Dallas is deeper. The Nuggets high end talent is better but Clippers are deeper, only the Nuggets found a way and I think Kroenke will absolutely notice.

MacK was the least of their concerns in this series imo. He managed to play at a goal per game level despite not having his superstar wingman for the first time in his career and being specifically gameplanned against. Cale was too, but his performance earns no excuse. He was a much bigger problem.
