It has to be just plain depressing for the skaters at this point, it's like even if they score 4 goals there's a 90% chance that they'll lose anyways.

I'm still convinced there's a factor that advanced stats don't catch on this defence that makes it that much harder for goalies to play here

I'm sure a heat map of shots against would burn a hole in my monitor in the slot. Micah's GAx was 2.6. I think Soogard should have had a couple of those shots, but it seems like either the shooter is wide open and traversing the slot (difficult to keep square and centred) or shoots through a flimsy stick check (imagine squinty Don Cherry bobbing his head around). And then there's the one accountable to own-goalie-interference tonight.

Addition by subtraction: Kubalik, Tarasenko need to go. Get some assets for Chychrun now. Sit Hamonic (has a NMC and nobody wants him anyway probably) and play JBD. Try to get some good FA vets in the off-season.

Positives:

Special teams looked really good, pk was getting the clears, the pp scored and when it didn't, it at least got some chances.

Despite the score, I thought we did pretty well a limiting the number of chances against, I'd like to see fewer oddan rushes, but I never felt like the avs were controlling the play for extended periods

On the flip side, we had a number of shifts where we really took it to them and got the cycle going, we created a lot of chances in the home plate and were rewarded with some goals

This wasn't a game you burn the tape and move on from (unless you're Sogaard), there were some real positives, and some things we could learn from.

First 2 periods were pretty good. 3rd period was a complete meltdown

Seeing the game live notes: fire Kubalik into the sun. He's being outplayed by Kelly and MacEwan.

Crazy that we got outplayed by the Avs in their 6th period of two nights.

Why are we playing the third and fourth lines down by 3 goals with 4 mins left? The games already lost, let's see if our core players can do something special...

It really feels like this team is never going to get a solid goalie performance ever again. Who’s going to do it?
Is the last time a goalie stole a game Boston mid last year? Seems like it by my count. This season is bizarre. Either our defence shits the bed or our goalie night in and night out.

Our D sucks, it`s so easy to score goals agains the Sens. Doesn`t help that the goalies can`t make a save.
