News Article: Colorado Avalanche Media Coverage Part VI

Rudo looked like he was about to have a nervous breakdown after being forced to acknowledge poor coaching at the very end of the DNVR post-game. Shit has become completely unwatchable with him and Eric doing nothing but talk in circles and make excuses. Such a shame. I really enjoyed them as an independent outlet for a while.

You guys seen this clip from Val’s travelling documentary?

I feel like I really understand the comments you hear about how much Family Sports sucks…

Family Sports is fine if you're going there to play hockey yourself, but as a legit practice facility for a professional sports team, ohhhh it absolutely blows.

Ex video coach on our 1st line goals

Man... that was good. Had to check out some of his other videos and he's really good.

It's a damn shame Altitude doesn't have the scratch to hire someone like this. How improved would our intermissions be with someone like that breaking down the game in review.

Ross probably told Miles that the Giants are in the Super Bowl and Miles is amped up for him.

"YOUR HOMETOWN TEAM BRO WE GOTTA HAVE A WATCH PARTY"
In some ways, I will miss those two terribly if/when we part ways. Absolutely adorable duo... very much like Merry and Pippin in LotR. They are never going to be the main character, but they lighten the mood, make me laugh, and occasionaly gasp in terror (I've yelled "You Fool of a Took!" at both more than once).

He told it in front of Sid when Nate first appeared on the Chiclets podcast, but Sid was off screen.

Oh that's interesting, I vaguely remember him looking off screen occasionally, now that you mention it. Been a while since I've seen it. Still cool to see Sid's reaction this time at least.

Love how he says, "I didn't lose any sleep over that. I didn't think that was weird at all."

I hated Sid when he first debuted but he honestly has become one of my top 5 all time favourites with Forsberg, Sakic, Datsyuk, and MacKinnon.

Loved Nate's initial answer to the question about a 2 on 1: Nate's got the puck and Sid with him...does he shoot or pass?

Nate's first answer: "Depends... yeah. I'll have to make a few reads and figure it out but... yeah, I'll do one of each."

My mind visualizing this: It's a 2 on 1 and Nate's got the puck. He makes an unbelievable pass to Sid... and then takes a puck out of his shorts, drops it and fires a shot bar down... beating Sid's goal by nanoseconds.

Nate: "That's for tripping me up on that hill when I was 14."

Mack was pretty funny about going hard doing drills while Cosby is talking to his dad.

"I was trying to impress you, glad you noticed"

Yeah, Andy told him to do a drill and then started talking to his father so Nate continued doing the drill because Andy didn't say stop. Loved that Sid said he noticed this and felt bad for the kid.... before Nate said "Yeah, I was trying to impress you."

What I love about their relationship is that while Nate obviously adores and looks up to Sid, Sid seems to always have treated Nate as an equal. Sid was impressed by Nate's work ethic before he even made the NHL, as shown in this story.

Theirs is a relationship based on mutual respect. It's not just a mentor-student thing. Sid is getting a lot from the relationship as well. Their relationship seems more "Brian's Song" than "Slap Shot". Whatever it is, it's been going for a long, long, time and has finally culminated in two massive giants of the game getting to play together for the first and maybe only time as dominate players of the game. And even now, Sid's not what he once was, even though he's still better than like 85%+ of the league.

It's just so cool to actually see these two together. I know Sid will never leave the Penguins, but damn...
